COPPELL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO HONOR COPPELL HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL LAURA SPRINGER WITH ANNUAL CLIFF LONG LEADERSHIP AWARD
COPPELL, Texas – Jan. 6, 2022 – Coppell High School (CHS) Principal Laura Springer will receive the Cliff Long Leadership Award at the Coppell Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Members’ Choice Awards & Community Gala on Saturday, January 29, 2022. The event honors local businesses, organizations and individuals that have made a significant impact in the community.
Springer, who was named principal of CHS in 2019, has served Coppell ISD as a head coach, teacher, and administrator for more than 35 years. The Cliff Long Leadership Award celebrates a community member who exemplifies dedication, integrity, and honorable service. The Coppell Chamber of Commerce presents the award to a local hero who epitomizes the spirit of service, who volunteers their time, and who has made the community a better place.
“Laura Springer pours her heart and soul into our students, our families, and our teachers here in Coppell,” said 2018 Cliff Long Leadership award recipient Jason McCann. “She exemplifies true servant leadership in everything that she does. By developing strong, meaningful relationships with her students, Laura has made a positive impact the lives of tens of thousands of students and families in her 35-year career, creating an incredible ripple effect of optimism and hope across the community and the globe. She continues to inspire and lead by example, showing what true Cowboy grit is. We couldn’t be prouder.”
To honor Springer’s leadership, she will receive $5,000 in academic scholarships to award to Coppell students for the 2021-2022 school year. Springer will identify students that exemplify Coppell Cowboy GRIT, servant leadership, teamwork, and love of learning. Students will receive $1,000 to support ongoing learning, education, and development.
The 2022 academic scholarships were funded by Vari CEO and co-founder Jason McCann and his wife Cari McCann through a donation to the Coppell Community Development Foundation (CCDF), a 501c(3) that provides assistance for business, philanthropic, and educational programs in Coppell. “It is often said that folks move to Coppell for the public school system. There are many reasons for these family decisions, and they may not know it at the time, but Laura Springer is one of those reasons,” said Cliff Long. “Our youth are our future and there is no one better than Laura to nurture our young people and prepare them for the trials and successes they will face as adults. Coach Springer brings her unique communication skills and empathy for people to her students, their families, the faculty, and the administrators with which she works. Her relationship with students is stunning – just ask one of her former students. Laura is a gifted educator and true leader, and the world is a better place because of the thousands of Laura Springer disciples in it.”
In addition to the Cliff Long Leadership Award, the Coppell Chamber of Commerce presents awards for the following categories:
• Large Business of the Year
• Small Business of the Year
• Emerging Business of the Year
• Non-Profit of the Year
