We are delighted to announce the opening of our new back office in Medellín, Colombia. Our talented Colombian team will be providing vital support to our U.S. operations. For our opening, we were honored to have our Managing Partner, Brian Barakat, CEO Clara Salvai, and Senior Paralegal Camila Guzman join us from Miami to meet and train the staff.

We also had the pleasure of meeting with the team from EAFIT University to discuss their initiatives and plans for collaboration 🤝Our heartfelt thanks go out to Professor Jose Toro, Natalia Echeverri Serna, and Jairo Daniel Cortés Ramírez for their warm welcome and for taking the time to show us their amazing facilities. These discussions have opened up exciting possibilities for collaboration with the university, and we’re eager to see what the future holds.

Sergio Jadue, former president of the National Association of Professional Football of Chile (ANFP), represented by our partner Giacomo Bossa, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Amazon.com, Inc. and its subsidiaries.

The lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, alleges that the Amazon Prime drama series “El Presidente” falsely portrays Jadue as engaging in criminal activities, causing significant damage to his reputation and business relationships.

Today our partner Giacomo Bossa conducted a CLE Presentation hosted by the Florida Department of Health, where he shared valuable insights with a panel of over 50 distinguished attorneys and litigators, focusing on the recent updates to Florida's Chapter 48 service of process legislation.

During his presentation, he gave a sneak peek at some of the updates that Florida litigators can expect to see and highlighted how the service of process on both domestic and foreign corporations has been modernized or simplified. 👨‍⚖️

In addition to his presentation, Mr. Bossa is also working with a Chapter 48 task force that is drafting a glitch bill to address emerging issues since the legislation's recent changes.

When asked about her choice to pursue a career in law, Emily shared, "I grew up in a household where it was instilled into me that if I was able to help someone, I always should. There seemed to be no better way to do that every day than being in the legal field! Throughout my first year of law school at UF, I found that not only can I help people in all sorts of situations, but that I can also make true change in my community. Beyond the desire to create meaningful change, I have also developed a deeper understanding of the importance of making sure that everyone has access to and the ability to connect with legal resources. I want to continue to do my part in creating spaces where the legal field and the community can freely interact without prejudice or fear. I am looking forward to joining the B2B incubator program to continue progressing in my career"

Laura shared her aspirations for the program: "During the B2B incubator program, I aspire to hone my communication skills in legal writing and public speaking, as well as learn about the extensive preparation needed for effective trial advocacy. As a judicial intern last summer, I witnessed the intricacies of trial from voir dire to closing statements and noted that above all, a successful litigator really is a compelling storyteller. Through the B2B incubator program, I hope to learn from the expertise of seasoned litigators and gain practical trial skills that will undoubtedly set me apart once I begin my legal career. But more importantly, I hope to expand and build upon soft skills, such as adaptability and emotional intelligence, that will enable me to be a better advocate inside and outside the courtroom."

Nicholas outlined his goals for the program: "My goal for the program is to get a better appreciation of the litigation process and hopefully more experience working in it. I’m looking forward to learning in the Incubator Program and using it to track my progress in understanding how to navigate litigation so that I can ensure that the client’s interests are best represented.
