Dean Pratim Biswas highlighted that these efforts will advance safe transportation technology and aid in designing safer next-gen batteries. Ph.D. student Shruti Choudhary collected air samples to assess cancer-causing agents.

Led by lecturer Lokesh Ramamoorthi, they used Oculus headsets to explore the metaverse and learn about the latest in tech innovations.๐Ÿš€ Students taking electrical and computer engineering courses are also learning how to design and build mobile apps, stereo power amplifiers, and digital voting machines. ๐Ÿ“ฑ๐Ÿ”Š

For nearly 30 years, Patricia Broadhurst has been the academic advisor to hundreds of College of Engineering students. Sheโ€™s also the daughter of a Korean War veteran.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ As a symbolic gesture ahead of her retirement, Rancell Gonzalez Sanchez, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and engineering student, honored Broadhurst by presenting her with the U.S. flag. It was a token of gratitude for her guidance in helping him and countless engineering students launch their college career.

Miami โ€˜climate tech hubโ€™ gets $19.5 million from feds. Focus will be reinforcing coast 07/02/2024

The University of Miami will receive a $2.5 million grant to help advance concrete technologies for a resilient coastline, train employees to enter the green workforce, and support start-ups in technology testing and validation.

The project is part of the $504 million award made to 12 Tech Hubs across the country today.

Miami โ€˜climate tech hubโ€™ gets $19.5 million from feds. Focus will be reinforcing coast โ€˜We have the biggest challenges and the best innovators โ€” and now we have great capital to move these programs forward and its a demonstration to the world.โ€™

Last week, the University of Miami hosted a National Science Foundation (NSF) project meeting led by University of South Florida , bringing together researchers from institutions across the country.

๐Ÿ“During a visit to the mangroves in Virginia Key, Professors Landolf Rhode-Barbarigos and Rafael Araujo explained the critical interactions between natural, human-built, and social systems in coastal areas as well as future experiments in the SUSTAIN flume.
