***Update: Due to a great response, we ran out of bins on Monday, July 29. We have more, and will replenish the supply on Tuesday, July 30!***

If you need storage containers, we have used Coralville recycling bins and lids available for free at the Drop-Off Recycling Center, 212 1st Street (open weekdays 7:00 am-3:00 pm, and Saturdays 8:00 am-noon). With a quick scrub, these make great sturdy totes for garage storage, garden supplies, or any household use.

Crews to Inspect Sanitary Sewers the Week of July 22 07/19/2024

A section of sanitary sewers in Coralville will be inspected July 22-29 using acoustic technology to proactively identify maintenance needs. Tones sent to a receiver in a downstream manhole will determine pipe condition to help identify which sanitary sewers have blockage and require cleaning. The City has contracted with InfoSense, Inc., to perform the inspections. Here's what you can expect:
📍 50,000 feet of sanitary sewers and 225 manholes will be inspected north of I-80, south of Oakdale Blvd, east of 12th Ave, and west of 1st Ave. (A small number of sanitary sewers will also be inspected just north of Oakdale Blvd and south of Mesquite Dr, between 12th Ave and Poplar St).
📍 These sanitary sewers and manholes may be located in the street, front yards, and back yards. These are in easements, which allow the city access to do necessary work.
🔍 Crews will be driving vehicles and wearing high-visibility vests with the InfoSense logo.
🐾 Keep pets indoors or on a leash away from manholes while crews are on site conducting inspections.
👂 The sound from the inspection will last only a few minutes per pipe segment, and should not be loud. The assessment per line segment should take less than 10 minutes.
Questions? Call the Coralville Wastewater Department at 319-248-1745.

Great news! As early as noon on Wed., July 3, 2024, the on-ramp from 1st Avenue to I-80 eastbound will open, and both northbound 1st Avenue lanes from E. 9th Street will open!

👍 Follow the signs and pavement markings to turn from 1st Ave onto the new I-80 eastbound on-ramp (free turn movements with no traffic signals!).
👍 Northbound 1st Ave traffic approaching E. 9th St will have two thru lanes through the E. 9th St intersection. The right lane becomes a dedicated right turn lane onto the new I-80 eastbound on-ramp.
👍 As of June 2024, the project is 80% complete, and on track to have all permanent lane improvements open by the end of 2024.
🚘 1st Ave traffic is one lane in each direction across the new bridges using the diverging diamond traffic pattern. While there are lane reductions we'll still see some backups, but traffic flow will improve as more lanes of traffic open.

Coralville Fire Department Maintains High Rating 06/26/2024

Did you know that fire departments throughout the United States are subjected to a rating from the Insurance Services Office (ISO)? A fire department's ISO rating grades its municipal fire protection efforts, including how well the fire department receives fire alarms and dispatches its firefighting resources; how adequate the water supply is for fighting fires; and a review of the fire department's training, staff, and equipment.

The City of Coralville Fire Department has again maintained an ISO Class 2 rating. With 1 being the highest possible rating, the Class 2 rating puts the Coralville Fire Department in the top 7% of municipal fire departments nationally. Thank you to our fire department members for their hard work serving our community!
