To My Valued Friends, Guests, and Family,
I am writing to inform you that I have made the difficult decision to close JRB Hair Co. effective immediately. I know this abrupt news may shock you terribly, so I apologize. Upon receiving this news, you’re probably experiencing a range of emotions, and very few of them are pleasant, and for that, I understand. Over the last six years, my dream has always been to provide an experience of love, acceptance, a safe place to dish the tea, and some damn fine hair to go with it. Each of you has helped me live that dream for over half a decade, and I’ll eternally be grateful. I’ve helped celebrate and mourn alongside many of my guest’s most significant life milestones and shared my achievements, goals, and ambitions with you all. With that in mind, this decision was not made lightly and gave me a great deal of personal anguish. It is one I have struggled to come to terms with as well.
At this point, I’m sure you’re wondering why I have chosen to make such a profound and altering decision, and I agree that I owe you an explanation. As many of you know, I have been commuting to Corona from San Diego for three years. While the drive by itself is not the reason for the decision, it has taken a tremendous toll on my vehicle and my physical and emotional health. Keeping that in mind, I was approached by a beauty school in San Diego looking for an Educator not long ago. Upon hearing their offer, I decided to accept their position and will be turning the page to a new chapter much closer to home in my career. While I hope you can understand why I have made the decision I have, I hope you also know that when debating between the two, there have been a lot of sleepless nights, a lot of tears, and a lot of thought behind it and it was never made lightly or without thinking of the feelings and emotions of all my guests who have become so much more like my friends and family over the years.
While I’m sure many of you will reach out in the coming days and weeks expressing either disappointment, understanding, or congratulations, keep in mind that you’re most likely not the only one doing so and that I’m human. Remember that closing this chapter of my life has been extremely emotionally difficult for me, and try to understand that I may not respond right away. However, on a lighter note, not all is gloom and doom for this announcement. Once the shock wears off and to ease the transition of finding a new stylist, I am happy to share your current color formulations so you can give them to your new stylist so they know where to pick up where I’m leaving off. I’m also happy to provide suggestions of some local stylists who I think would make an excellent fit for you based on your personality, hair goals, and current services. For either a stylist recommendation or your color formula or if you wish to reach out with concerns or thoughts please do so at [email protected] to ensure those messages don’t get lost in the chaos. Lastly, the school informed me during the hiring process that should I wish to use their facilities after hours to service guests, I’m welcome to do so. So while I’m not sure about the specifics yet, if you just can't bring yourself to change stylists, it will be an option for you to come to Poway and continue seeing me once I have established a working routine at the school.
With all my love,
-Jay
As a reminder….
As of today I am currently on vacation and will be out of the country. I will not be responding to any inquiries related to appointments until I return on 6/18. All appointments requests will be reviewed after that date.

Hair extensions FAQ! ⬇️
Q: Do hair extensions damage your hair?
A: If installed correctly there is no damage to your natural hair.
Q: How often do I need to buy new hair?
A: If you treat your hair well and follow my tips for in between visits your hair can last 9-12 months.
Q: How often do I need to come in for maintenance?
A: I recommend every 6-8 weeks to come in for a move up.
Q: Are they expensive?
A: It all depends on your desired length and density most guests average an initial investment of about 600.00 for the hair but like I said above it can last for a a long time.
Q: Can I do everything like normal with my hair?
A: Yes! You can wash, dry, and style just as you normally would I just suggest keeping oily products and conditioners away from the bond that attached them in. Otherwise you’re free to do your normal routine.

This is 33🎂. I mean 29😂🤦♂️.
Another year wiser and another year braver.
I’m thankful for another year of support from my amazing clientele.
Now I just need cake and Botox for those forehead wrinkles.
I have some new faces on here so….
Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself I’m Jay!
5️⃣ random facts about me:
1. I have two fur babies you’ll hear about constantly. Link & Lira. But Link is definitely my fav, sorry Lira 😂.
2. I do CrossFit 4-5 times a week.
3. I’m Christina Aguilera’s #1 fan! No, seriously.
4. I’m addicted to Starbucks iced coffee.
5. I love podcasts especially true crime.
So from me to you, welcome to the tribe ❤️.
Happy Thanksgiving to my babes❤️
This year more than most I have a lot to be thankful for. This time last year we were going through another forced closure.
This year although I’m ready to drop from exhaustion or drink six bottles of wine from being so booked up I went home every night thinking how blessed I was to be so busy.
I can never extend enough gratitude to those of you who choose to do business with me. You’ll also never know how much you mean to me beyond being a client.
I hope your holiday is filled with love, memories, and way too much food.
Happy thanksgiving 🦃
What’s better than great hair? Great hair, champagne, and great conversation. Tonight and had me rolling, and reminded me why I love my job ❤️. Thanks ladies for the entertainment. It’s always a blast with the two of you!
Attention Guests:
I will be out of the country starting today until next week. I will not be responding to any hair messages, texts, or appointment requests. I will approve all requests when I get back into the States next week.
Thanks,
Jay
Thank you 🙏.
I am grateful for every appointment, every transaction, and every time you choose to support me in a world full of other stylists.
But today I was reminded that I’m so much more than a small business that you choose to support.
I’m a friend, a gossip buddy, therapist, and hair guru all in one.
Out of all the things I’ve done in my life the thing I’m most proud of is creating a safe space where my guests can let their hair down, figuratively and literally. Where they feel safe to confide in me their secrets, share their joy, and ultimately their lives.
I am honored every time I put that color apron on and get to be a part of your stories.
Let’s talk a blondes best friend and worst Nemesis.
💜 purple shampoo.
Purple shampoo is wonderful for those quick toning sessions in between your salon visits. To help keep brass at bay and your blonde bright.
But the double edge sword is purple shampoo is extremely drying.
Why🧐❓
Purple shampoo contains trace amounts of color inside it. This is how it works. As you lather up the purple “toner” cancels out the yellow. Think of it in terms of putting a more gentle toner on your hair every time you shampoo.
Now imagine if you were coming to the salon several times a week to get a toner. Of course your hair would feel like the Sahara.
So what’s the proper way to use the purple shampoo⁉️
1️⃣. Use purple shampoo 2️⃣ ❌ a month.
2️⃣. Wait at least 3️⃣-4️⃣ weeks after getting your color done. (The pigment in purple shampoo will actually strip your toner and increase the brass underneath if used too quickly after the color service).
3️⃣. Use your normal shampoo to get a good lather🧖🏼♀️ and then apply your purple shampoo over top of the lather to help evenly distribute the pigments throughout the hair.
4️⃣. Let sit for 3️⃣-5️⃣⏱ to work it’s magic.
5️⃣. Rinse and follow up with a deep conditioner to restore the moisture💦.

May I get personal for a moment?
You may have noticed a lack of social media presence from me as of late. I apologize to my guests who absorb the knowledge I intertwine with my hair pics.
The truth is Facebook and instagram became a negative effect on my mental health for a while, so I took a step back.
It came to a point where I was always stressing over taking good enough photos, or coming up with a creative caption, or simply was my engagement going to be high enough?
I began comparing myself to other artists in my field. I constantly berated myself with negative thoughts and feelings towards it.
So I took some much needed time away from the app and began to reevaluate my purpose and what drives me.
The love I have behind the chair is more than I can truly express, but that love doesn’t always translate to the social media side. I appreciate my guests for allowing me the time to step away while still having my business thrive.
I’m back, and I’m ready to bring you quality content once again. For me I needed to step away and get inspired again through art, music, and new styling tutorials. What is it you do when you’re feeling in a funk that helps pull you back to reality?
❤️Jay
Happy New Year to all my loves ❤️.
Last year was insane and I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited for a new year to start. From being shut down for months to moving to San Diego. 2020 brought so many changes to my life but my one constant was my tribe of guests that have never stopped believing in me and my small company.
Through all the awful times of last year you all kept me grounded, and hopeful. I’m so excited to reopen soon and continue to transform your hair like always.
This lovely babe came in before the most recent shut down orders and we did some custom color along with 18” extensions in two different colors to perfectly match her hair and make her the blonde goddess that she is ❤️. Scroll ➡️ for her before.
