“Quo Vadis Domine?” - Picking up Our Cross ✝️

At our last Youth Group Session we read from the Gospel of Matthew where Jesus lays down the Conditions of Discipleship. We must deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Our Lord. It was a great session to be able to express the joyful sacrifice we must choose daily to pick our cross and follow Him.

Moving into the Parish, we prepared ourselves to follow in Christ’s footsteps. Fr. Thomas gave us an explanation of why we meditate over the Stations of the Cross and where they come from. Before we began our journey with Christ, we invited all our teens to write down their crosses they carry and to pray for the strength to say “yes” to God’s will.

As we have now entered Holy Week, please pray for our Youth and especially for the crosses that they carry daily!

Vocations Luncheon 🍽️

We are grateful to the guests who joined us for yesterday's youth group session! “Who has thought about their future Vocation?”, with curious smirks and various “hmms” in the group we knew this was going to be a fantastic day! 😎

Our panel of guests retold their stories of how they were called to their Vocations! In these retellings we were taken to various places like Chicago, Italy, India, Louisiana, and even our southern neighbors in Kingsville, Tx. After these amazing testimonies we opened the floor for Q&A, giving the opportunity for our youth to ask honest questions!

We all continue to pray that our youth will be granted the graces necessary to say “Yes” when they hear Our Lord calling them to the Vocation they were created for! 🙏🏽

We’d like to give another special thank you to our amazing Diocesan Vocations Directors - Sr. Mary Claire, SOLT & Bob Cummings, the Pax Christi Sisters, the Sisters of St. Ann, Seminarian Luis, and of course of very own Deacon Bob & his wife Jenny Allen, and Fr. Thomas!

This is an exciting opportunity for us to have for our Youth! Please do not miss out on this fantastic day to ask questions, and begin your journey of praying for your Vocation!

“New Year, New Me” 🎉

We have officially resumed our Youth Group sessions and we were so excited to see everyone back! We focused our time together, diving into the depths of our hearts.

We wrote down 3-5 goals for our spiritual life. We began by asking ourselves what goals would be beneficial. Where is the Lord calling us this year, are there areas of growth, or are there things we need to let go of? Then, we spent sometime uncovering our “why?”. After this, we then wrote a letter to our future self!

The youth who were able to participate in this activity yesterday will be getting their letters back in 6 months from now! Please pray for them to strive for their goals and deepen their relationship with Christ and our amazing Parish!🙏🏽

Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe ☀️

To honor Our Lord, we planned a Eucharistic Procession around our campus! Singing hymns and lifting prayers of thanksgiving, we offered our King all the things we’ve done as a parish for His greater glory and all the things we have planned for the future.

We reminded ourselves of putting all of our trust into Our Lord’s hands. We make the commitment to fit all our plans to His so that, his will, will be done on earth - through us His people - as it is in heaven. 🙏🏽

Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, Have Mercy on Us! ❤️‍🔥

Youth Ministry Turkey Bowl🦃

Alright, confession time … some may say we played the “wrong” football but our youth director would say otherwise! 🫣

Either way, we had a blast coming together to watch some college football, eat canes, and spend some time in fellowship with each other. Most importantly, we were able to give thanks for the countless memories the Lord has allowed us to make together!

We are more than just friends here at St. Philip the Apostle, WE ARE FAMILY! ❤️‍🔥
