The South Texas Catholic is the official publication for the Diocese of Corpus Christi.
In the Diocese of Corpus Christi's evangelization efforts we serve as a medium for the bishop’s messages; a venue to report activities of parishes, institutions and organizations; a way of keeping the faithful abreast of national and international issues facing the church; and a vehicle to promote the work of diocesan departments, programs and services.
Around 250 faith educators came together for a day of formation with Bishop Mulvey and Chris Bartlett, Director of Ablaze Ministry. They reflected on the theme for the new catechetical year, “Lord, when did we see you hungry?” (Mt 25:37) and what being “missionary disciples” mean for their ministry.
Today is the final day of the National Conference of Diocesan Vocation Directors in Minneapolis, Minnesota, which Vocation Director Bob Cummings and Fr. Charles Silva attended. They said they'd come back with some fresh ideas and, most of all, invigorated by the witness of many and the fraternity they experienced!

Happy 75th birthday, Bishop Mulvey! More than 50 priests concelebrated with him a solemn Mass at Most Precious Blood Parish. In his homily, the bishop emphasized how important it is to come together: “No one can live Christianity alone!” Together, all faithful are called to bring life to our world that has excluded God so that the desert can flower.
He thanked all his brother priests who welcomed him and bring Jesus’ presence in their parishes.
On behalf of the priests, Vicar General Fr. Paul Hesse thanked Bishop Mulvey for “being a true shepherd and a friend,”
Happy Birthday, Bishop Mulvey! We love you and we wish you all the best!
