Race report Round 2 CMRA NOLA #767

Reporting the bitter is just as important as reporting the sweet. Getting better at anything entails a series of ups and down. This weekend could be considered a down but the optimist in me feels definitely! It’s what you do when you get up that counts.

Reporting on round 2 should be more of a weather report than a race report. Constantly checking the weather like a meteorologist and still didn’t get it right. I think I see another career opportunity in weather. They never get it right, kinda like me on Sunday. I kid you not, it was like a mini hurricane Katrina come time for race 7 (my first race of the day). On the out lap, I could see the droplets but I didn’t think anything of it. I was so nervous! Racing there for the first time I couldn’t contain myself on the grid. I believe that’s why I stalling out on the start. After the stall out I lost focus and all I could think about was getting back to the front of the pack. I caught up by turn 1 and by turn 9 I had already passed 3. When I got to turn 11 the rain came which is where the most valuable lesson of the day revealed itself which is, “you can’t win a race in one lap but you can definitely lose one”. I lost the rear at about 100mph+ and rolled for a long ass time before coming to a stop. Just like that race weekend was done! No wins, no point, nothing!

On the bright side, I got to ride and learn a new track, strengthened some relationships, and most importantly I didn’t get hurt!

Had a great day today at the track. Made some progress on the setup of the bike and lower lap times. Ronnie Grove has come along way from the first time he decided to get on the track. Roland Stimson always a great time with you on the track. It was great to see you push your limit past your comfort zone. With that you will progress and get faster on the track

Out testing today with Ronnie Grove trying to get the bike dialed in for next month's race. He is picking the pace and moving good
