Yesterday was International Beaver Day! 🦫 We’re so happy to have all of our Beaver families with us! Some of the preschool kids have been practicing our “Beaver song”… “I’m a Beaver, you’re a Beaver, we are Beavers all & when we get together, we do our Beaver call!”

Little Beavers Preschool is proud to be a veteran owned small business. Al East went from serving our country in Korea and was recalled for the Bay of Pigs. Eventually, he was able to go back to playing football at OSU and on to the Rose Bowl in 1965. Some years later, he and Janice opened up Little Beavers to serve families in our community. We acknowledge this day to honor our veterans.

Don't forget to savor small moments of joy while waiting for the big ones.

Every August is National Immunization Awareness Month, and at Healthy Families Oregon, we're proud to support this initiative.

Grateful for my grandpa who served in Okinawa in WW2 and dad in Korea. His Purple Heart and army boots remind me of his dedication to service. Because of Al East and Janice, we have Little Beavers today to continue to serve our community!

Friendships are built here at Little Beavers with children from many different backgrounds. We celebrate in helping our little friends recognize the beauty in our differences!

Its Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month!

During pregnancy (and shortly after giving birth) many caregivers struggle with their own mental well-being. Healthy Families Oregon knows the importance of maternal mental health on building strong parent-child attachment. That's why HFO provides depression screening services for caregivers. HFO home visitors will connect families with mental health services in their community and provide ongoing support to families.

An open air school in 1957, Netherlands. In the beginning of the 20th century a movement towards open air schools took place in Europe. Classes were taught in forests so that students would benefit physically and mentally from clean air and sunlight!

It’s a tragic time for our nation! Our hearts break for the families and friends of the innocent children and teachers who lost their lives yesterday in the tragic Texas elementary school shooting. We fly our American flag at half mass in solidarity for those in mourning.

Today, Governor Brown announced new measures to address the spike in COVID-19 cases across Oregon and rising hospitalizations. The two-week “freeze” is effective next Wednesday, November 18 through Wednesday, December 2. The Governor’s new restrictions do not change Emergency Child Care operations, group sizes, and the best practices outlined in our "Health and Safety Guidelines for Child Care and Early Education Operating During COVID-19."
