Today from 3 PM until 9 PM! Block party with five bands! All ages and no stages!
It was so heartwarming to celebrate 25 years of interzone with so many valued friends and past employees. What a wonderful reunion it was. Filming this video brought me to tears as I captured the faces of so many beloved former staff. It was a pleasure to work with every one of you. Having met most of you when you were in your teens or 20s, I was overwhelmed to see you now as successful, accomplished adults, many with children of your own. You've known our kids since they were born and now they are interzone employees themselves!
Lots of love,
Iris ❤️
I don’t even know what to say. The Interzone block party was truly great!
Everything came together for a night to remember.
The past and the present met and the future looks promising. Old faces and new faces for 25 years making Interzone what it is.
I want to thank everybody who truly made the 25th anniversary party a special day!
Thanks to Caitlin, Indiana, Justin, Jim, Enola, Ayrril, Iris, Jonathan, Nicholas, DD, Andrea, Shea, Jason, Brian, Tucker, Seltzer, and my very fine staff for making this day one to remember. I know I’m forgetting plenty that helped put this up and then take it down. but I want to assure you that you’re loved and appreciated.
Please post your photos at Interzone’s group page on Facebook! I know there are so many more and I feel like I’ve posted only a tidbit of what happened.
Thank you all for making Corvallis a wonderful place!
Thanks to The Corvallis Advocate for the lovely writeup and reminder that this Friday is the 25th anniversary block party from 3pm-9pm

Interzone is hosting a block party to celebrate 25 years August 11 from 3 PM until 9 PM!
I started Interzone in 1998 with my ex-wife Iris. We wanted to open a place that represented our values – a sustainable vegetarian/vegan cafe with an all ages venue, a local art gallery, and a thriving diverse community. Interzone sources our organic coffee from Pacifica Coffee, local for over 30 years, mostly fair trade, and the best coffee in Oregon. We get our organic teas from Oregon Coffee and Tea, a beloved local mainstay. We get our produce from Organically Grown, an organic vegetable distributor out of Eugene.
As important as supporting local vendors, I also wanted to support local artists. The red room gallery features a new artist on the first of every month and the vast majority are from Corvallis. Some are having shows for the first time and some are already superstars. This month’s featured gallery artist is Diana Ryan, who started as a barista extraordinaire and is now an incredibly talented artist. We’ve been happily selling her ceramic skully mugs for over 15 years.
It was always important to me to have Interzone’s music venue be for all ages. I wanted to provide a space for young fans to create and experience live music. That’s come full circle for me now. Bitter Half Booking and the community of Corvallis DIY, many who started at Interzone as teen musicians have come together to host Interzone’s 25th anniversary block party. All the bands are local with the addition of David Dondero, an honorary local since he’s been playing at Interzone since the beginning.
Both of my boys have grown up in Interzone and had their first jobs here. My youngest son is playing the 25th anniversary block party with his band West, representing the next generation of young Corvallis musicians. It will be their third show at Interzone and I couldn’t be happier.
As a business owner I feel fortunate. I’ve had the support of the Corvallis community since the beginning. I’ve had the opportunity to meet creative, interesting and thoughtful people, truly the best of Corvallis. And, most fortunately, I’ve had a rotating cast of baristas and bakers and cooks that have made Interzone a special place. This block party, for me, is a celebration of the community I’ve found through Interzone. I can’t say how lucky I feel.
This is Greg of delivering us our organic, mostly fair trade coffee by bike. Not only is he an exceptionally great coffee roaster, he takes care of the coffee/espresso equipment too. I’m liking his choice of hoodies today.
, Dooley, and .band will be playing this Friday, July 28th!

This is Interzone’s latest piece of art that I’ve hung today. Today also marks the 25th anniversary of me signing the lease for the space that has become Interzone. Thank you Josh Gates for this beautiful portrait!
A very cool book of photographs came my way. The photographer is artist/photographer/musician Collin J Rae. They are for sale at Interzone!

Fall term hours:
M - F 7am - 6pm
S & S 8am - 4pm

These are the latest menus for the Fall term. The weekday scrams are new. I'm looking forward to seeing you all again!
New T-shirts are in! This one is by Sonja Pernela. Sonja’s art has been part of Interzone since the beginning. She is one of my favorite artists and Interzone would not look the same without her art. Her art is also all throughout my house as well. I have a print of this image in my living room.
Interzone opened its doors 23 years ago today.
For the most part, things moved along smoothly and each year was better than the last.
I can’t say the same is true for 2020 or 2021.
However, the community of Interzone has never felt any greater then it has been for the last 16 months or so.
It is through your donations and patronage that Interzone is open today.
I don’t know when Interzone will completely be back to where it was, but it is definitely climbing its way back each day.
Getting your shots and wearing your mask (again, as mandated) will hopefully keep this community alive.
Thanks to everybody who has ever worked, performed, hung their art, or enjoyed the above with a cup of coffee and and organic breakfast/lunch!
Interzone has been part of this community for nearly a quarter of a century and it warms my heart and blows my mind to feel the love and support from you all!
Here is to making roughly 2000 feet of this planet a better place. Cheers!
I am terrible about keeping up with online presence. I haven’t really needed to until perhaps this year. Now that we’re dining in at full capacity I thought I would share the weekday breakfast menus.
Twenty three years ago today we signed a lease to start this adventure of Interzone. Last year we were closed on this day and it was just the beginning of a really rough time for all of the world.
We are open today thanks to the generosity and support from people past and present. Thank you to all those who made donations or bought t-shirts, mugs, tote bags, gift certificates, and of course, coffee and food! As always, thank you to everyone through the years who have worked here and made it Interzone what it is. It’s a pleasure to have worked or work beside you!
It seems like things are finally starting to lean towards normal. The days of a full house for breakfast and lunch, or poetry readings and shows are coming into sight.
Dining in starts again tomorrow! Limited capacity, but we are finally starting to feel like Interzone again!
We have new T-shirts and tote bags in! The T-shirts have the same design as the tote bag. Thanks again to Brady Mixed Species for sorting out the design!
