Packing an emergency safety kit in the trunk of your vehicle for the unforeseen/just in case moments in life is important. But what is also important, is that you make sure that it's packed with items that are needed for winter. Here are some specific items that you need to add your current roadside emergency kit. Blankets—a blanket is highly recommended to keep in your vehicle year around, but it is vital during the winter months. Ideally you would want to carry a reflective heat blank however, any heavy and warm blanket will do. Hand warmers—these come in handy for multiple situations and most brands last longer than 8 hours. A shovel—with the change in seasons we more rain and in later the colder months we get hit with snow and ice causing our road conditions to become unpredictable. Having a small shovel comes in handy just in case you or someone else slides off the road and gets stuck. Carrying a shovel may feel excessive or you may be thinking you don’t have room. However you can find small and even folding shovels in most outdoor sections in a department store. Heavy duty work gloves for chaining your tires, having to change a tire, or dig yourself out. Now would also be a good time to check the expiration dates on snacks and items in your first aid kit. You should replace all water bottles and expired items. Stay Safe!
