The M.A.D Art Studio - Costa Mesa

Teaching young artists how to explore their creativity while creating a community that allows them to express themselves through art. Studio. At M.A.D.

When my younger brother was diagnosed with Autism my world was forever changed. As we are nearly thirteen years apart I was old enough throughout his childhood to see the ways in which he was effected by this diagnosis. Although it was never about the label to us, and we didn't compare him to other children, you can't help but feel pained by watching someone so close to you struggle with things th

5 Lessons the Arts Teach
1. The arts help children learn to say what cannot be said.
2. Problems have more than one answer.
3. The arts celebrate multiple perspectives.
4. The limits of our language do not define the limits of our cognition.
5. Small differences can have large effects.
Get your children involved with art, look into art classes with M.A.D Art Studios.

At M.A.D Art Studio we teach our students about famous artists in history through the use of "we be free" curriculum. This means that we teach them how to create, not imitate the pieces that they see and make them their own. Learn more about it on our page https://m.facebook.com/TheMADStudioCM

The core of all academic programs are the subjects like math and science, reading and writing. Whether or not these subjects should be taught in academics has never been questioned, but the other subjects like art have been either squeezed in or not taught at all. When a school needs to cut its funding there is no debate as to where the cuts are taken from.

Art education isn't seen as an important part of academics which means that throughout the years the funding for it has been drastically cut, sometimes causing the programs to be removed from schools entirely. Advocates for the teaching of art in schools are trying to stress the important influences that its teachings have on the rest of a child's development.

Along with allowing children to explore their creativity, gain self confidence, and help them develop social skills, art has also been proven to raise academic scores by 30%.

With art education being limited in academic programs, it is now even more important to get your children involved in extra curricular programs that will open them up to the benefits that they are missing. Getting your children into art classes is a great way to allow them to explore their creativity while expanding their minds the way it used to be.

Our mission here at M.A.D Art Studio is to teach art in a way that inspires creative expression and encourages individuality. While most art is now taught with the mindset of there being a right answer, it's not like mathematics and adding two numbers together to get one solution. If you give ten kids a paintbrush and a palate, telling them to create whatever they want, you would get ten different masterpieces. That is the beauty of art, everyone can create something beautiful if they are given the tools and space that they need. That is what we hope to do, provide a safe space that inspires and allows creativity to take on the rest.

This is the perfect time to start because summer is coming and art classes are not only a wonderful creative outlet for children, but they are also a great way to keep them busy and keep their mind working! Classes are on Saturday afternoons and the age groups range from 4 years old with a mommy and me class to 12 years old.

You can sign up for classes individually or sign up for the twelve week program. The program consists of a class once a week, for one hour at a time. Each class will cover a different artist in history where we teach their artistic style and then create art in a similar way. We focus on creating, not imitating these famous works so we continue to inspire individuality and self-expression.

Contact us today about getting started with classes. Our twelve week program is going to start soon and you don't want to miss out! Ask us about getting signed up for you first class for half off.

Not only does art greatly contribute to children's development, but after school activities as a whole do as well. Through many studies we have learned that getting your child involved in programs outside of school does so much more than occupy their time. They can help children develop time-management skills, build their self-esteem, and allow them to practice goal-setting. This is all in addition to allowing them to explore their creative interests.

At M.A.D studios not only do we teach our students about famous artists and different techniques, but we also strive to inspire them to explore their creativity in an environment that makes them feel welcome to do so. Through our lessons their horizon is broadened, they are learning more about the tools that they have to use and given the opportunity to actually use them in the way that best speaks to them. We encourage them to feel inspired by what they learn while incorporating their own influences into their masterpieces to make them unique.

Connect with us at M.A.D Studio and learn how you and your children can join us. Let's explore our creativity together and work alongside one another to create beautiful art that is our own. We want to invite you into our space to learn and get involved!

Let's face it! Art isn't being taught the way that it used to be. Most schools don't see the arts as a necessary aspect to education so its funding often times get cut, this means they can't afford the classes at all. This doesn't always happen but in the cases in which it doesn't the arts are still not treated like they are as important as they really are.

Although it is meant to be a form of expression, art instructors focus more on imitating the work of the studied artist, opposed to drawing inspiration from it. Somehow over the years people started believing that there was a right way to be artistically creative when there isn't. Art is all about freedom of expression and working as a creative outlet.

At M.A.D. Studios we want to bring that back. We don't want to see your imitation of work that has already been done, we want to know how you interpret the creator's work and what you can do to make it your own. Join us at M.A.D. Studios today and let's express ourselves!
