MAMA BUNDLE :: working with other pregnancy, birth, and postpartum providers is key to community work. We are all doing our best work by working with each other, for the sake of supporting those having babies. One way I’ve connected with other providers has been coming up with this very basic but very helpful basket of lovely offerings that support pregnancy and postpartum, both very trying times for most! Giving a gift of herbal allies can be huge for a mama trying to do it all. Sometimes we need someone to just hand us the help rather than listing it off. 🙋🏻‍♀️ thank you to all of the doulas, PT providers, midwives, and mamas takin care of mamas who purchase these and pass on the gift we all need, herbal allies. ✨

HERBAL SMOKES // what does the herbal smokes blend look like? THIS 😍 gorgeous Blue Lotus flowers and Rose petals, mixed with Wood Betony, Skullcap, Marshmallow Leaf, and Mullein. A unique blend sure to help you relax, meditate, and sleep. A great replacement for smoking other things, whatever it may be, that are unhealthy or too heavy.

This rainy weather put all of my projects on the land on hold, making time for me to catch up on making smokes, a crowd favorite, so I seem to always be behind! Grateful for these days, and for you 🙏🏻💛💛💛

CLEAVERS // It’s time to head out of winter slumber and into the freshness of spring! I love this time of year. And dammit we had a tough winter here in Texas. Spring is the time for cleaning up sludge and partaking in more things like fresh veggies, greens, and herbs. Right now we’re surrounded! 🥰😍Cleavers are one of our lovely spring allies, a great way to work with the seasons. She looks a bit like a pipe cleaner and acts like one. Sticky to the touch, and you’ll often see me wearing some on my shirt this time of year 😆 a gentle but powerful lymph mover, perfect after the winter time where we slowed down and ate more heavy, cooked, and preserved foods. Cleavers make a beautiful and delicious cold infusion. Try this one at home! Can also be blended with water, then strained, to make a juice. I love having this tincture around as to have a lymph mover year around, especially during times of illness when the lymph nodes may get swollen and tender. This is one of MANY single herb tinctures that I carry. Message me to get some! These are not on the website yet. 💛💛💛

APPRENTICESHIP :: Hey community! Feeling enormously blessed that I’ve gotten to a place that I’m too busy to do it all on my own. I’m looking to hire an apprentice, ideally two, to help me in the apothecary, behind the scenes. Important to note!! This is not a paid apprenticeship, I’m just not there yet (hopefully one day!). Instead I’m trading education (highly valuable!). If you are looking for education in herbalism, knowledge in local plant flora, how to make herbal medicine, DM me ASAP. Ideally, you want to learn herbalism, and have time 1-2 times a week, every other week, to help me out. My apothecary is in Georgetown, my home is located Coupland, and availability to both locations is necessary. Education will be regularly, and in either, both, or multiple locations. Depending on season! If you are at all interested please message me! More details from there 💛💛💛

Bouncing back. Resiliency. Community has been everything when Texas was hit with such severe weather. Our infrastructures failed us but our neighbors did not. Personally, my son and I were rescued by friends and were fully taken care of by them, with no hesitation. We were incredibly lucky to come home to nothing severely damaged, but even if we had I know we would have been fine. So many people stepped up to help and I saw that happening all around. So grateful! And the plants....oh these sweet and seemingly delicate spring plants, still there after everything had melted. And what a gift! A lot of us ate what we could, what was available, without thinking too much about health. What a blessing to have these sweet plants ready for us, nutrient dense, fresh and abundant. Thank you Henbit and Chickweed!

How are you recovering? Are you still feeling the aftermath? This warm weather has brought tons of normalcy back, a much needed comfort. The cattle out here are happy to rest too.

The apothecary is getting restocked and ready for you! Let me know what you need 💛 it’s time to transition out of survival mode and into self care mode. Here for you 💛

A baby goat was born yesterday 😭 everyone is curious and excited and proud. The donkeys are near it most of the day and it’s the sweetest. These animals aren’t ours but we share our land with our neighbors for a cattle lease and since they don’t live on their land yet we go over and check on things sometimes. We are so lucky! To live in relationship with our neighbors, these animals, and the land itself. New life is so hopeful and joyful✨✨

OPUNTIA FRUIT // While so many people are looking towards fall, adding all the pumpkin things to their menu, and wishing for the cooler weather, I’m over here holding on to the last part of summer the best I can. This year was amazing for Cactus Fruit. Also called Tunas. I find that Wild Prickly Pear Cactus, the kind full of thorns, bears the best fruit. It’s always bigger, juicier, and more vibrant than the spineless varieties. I’ve gathered some that are nearly the size of light bulbs! And it’s spirit....to be so vibrant, juicy, sweet...to be in its best and ready state during the hottest time of year. I always tell people that the Cactus plant just wants to be here. No matter what. It always provides and gives and wants to. Thank you Opuntia! Always. I’ve been drying the fruit for an herbal syrup but today’s harvest will be dried to enjoy as a snack. I’ve found that the seeds, almost impossible to eat raw, are more easily eaten after the dehydration process. And they are sooo good for you. Next, jelly, a popular way to enjoy the unique flavor and see the most beautiful color this plant gives. Have you had Cactus fruit before?

I don’t typically make fancy smudge bundles but I did for my girl cause I LOVE custom requests. Want something you don’t see on my offerings? I’ll make it just for you! Cause the beauty of herbalism and community is that we all have individual needs and those should be catered to, even down to a smudge bundle 😘

The storms blew in and thrusted the unripened black walnuts to the ground at my loves Louisiana family farm. The perfect harvest. Nature given. I processed these for the first time and learned all about the deep stains it leaves behind 😆 but, between you and me, I love looking down and seeing the reminder of the day we gathered these from such a beautiful spot, cicadas singing and all that glorious secluded place stuff. I’m tincturing them for their anti parasitic action but also for my first time making of have you made Nocino before? Or had it? Tell me all about it! ✨✨ also, the snails are back after the good rain and Noah is happy his friends are here 🐌

AUGUST 2020 :: yeah, it was all a blur. So much happened and it was all mostly beautiful and overwhelming in a good way. It pulled me away from here but I’ve been doing the work. August was personal. I’m the sole parent to my boy and between getting sick, his 9th birthday, and starting the s**t show that is school this year, I was spread thin. But there was lots of laughing, projects, love letters, melons, progress, and making all things herbal. Thank you community for being here with me and now I’m coming back from my quiet ✨
