We are at the field and it is currently storming. If it is storming at 6, the players will not be able to practice. HOWEVER, we will have volunteers at the field to verify information, take payments, etc. and coaches will be picking up their equipment. If it stops storming, the players wil ll get to practice.

We still need coaches for U6 and U8! Please reach out if you are willing to coach or help with a team.

REMINDER: Today is the LAST day to register for soccer.

1) If you have not registered and wish to play this season, please register asap at ahysa.org. We are quickly filling the teams for which we have coaches. For registrations after August 19, players will be put on a wait list.

2) The first practices for each age group for AHYSA Fall Soccer are listed below. All these practices will be at Jackson River Sports Complex in Covington.

U6 - Thursday, August 29, 6:00 - 7:00 PM (Age 4 or 5 as of September 30)

U8 - Tuesday, August 27, 6:00 - 7:00 PM (Age 6 or 7 as of September 30

U10 - Thursday, August 22, 6:00 - 7:00 PM (Age 8 or 9 as of September 30)

U12 - Thursday, August 22, 6;30 - 8:00 PM (Age 10 or 11 as of September 30) field by driving range

U14 - (Age 12 or 13 as of September 30), Contact Josh Brown (540) 484-3955 for next practice date and time.

U19 - Thursday, August 22, 6:30-8:00 PM (Age 14-18 as of September 30)

3) Thank you to all the coaches who have volunteered so far. We still need U6 coaches.

4) All players will need shin guards covered by socks. Players will not be allowed to play in games wearing ear rings or other jewelry. Games should start in mid-September (September 14 for some teams).

5) If you have a soccer ball please bring to practice - remember to put your name on the ball. U6 & U8 use size 3, U10 & U12 use size 4, U14 and U19 use size 5.

Players will be divided into teams after the first practices. If you won't be able to attend the first practice, please contact Scott Peterson.

We have had a large number of kids sign up which is fantastic. However, they get more out of the season having smaller teams where they get more playing time. In order to accomplish this we need more coaches. Please reach out if you are willing to help!

Due to the severe weather forecast throughout the day from the tropical storm, all rec soccer games are canceled for today.

Players will have been divided into teams for all age groups by Friday evening.

You should be contacted by your coach in the next day or two. If you have not been contacted by Monday September 4, text Scott Peterson at (540) 958-0449.

Reminder: All U6 and U8 players must have a parent present at the field for practices and games. Coaches cannot take players to the rest room.

U-6 first practice will be tomorrow! It will start at 6. Volunteers will be there at 5:30 to start checking people in.

Again, If you have a request ( certain practice night/ your child NEEDS to be with another player), please make that request when checking in tomorrow. Requests need to be made by 6:15 so we can organize the information before coaches draft. If you cannot be there tomorrow or will be late, please message us on Facebook and give us your request. Please keep in mind that it might not be possible that all requests are granted.

Summer Soccer Camp July 26-28 with AHS Girls Soccer Players!

Players from the AHS girls soccer team will be conducting a soccer camp July 26,27, as 28th.

The camp will be at Jackson River Sports Complex from 6:00-8:00 pm.
The camp is for boys and girls ages 5-15. The cost for the camp is $10 per night. No advance registration required. Come advance your soccer skills with the AhS girls soccer players.

Welcome to the Alleghany Highlands Youth Soccer Association Providing programs to promote the sport of soccer for the youth of Alleghany County and Covington, Virginia.

Volunteer coaches are very important for a successful season. If you are interested in coaching or have any questions, please contact us!

In conjunction with Covington Parks and Recreation, AHYSA will once again be supporting Summer Cup Soccer (Mondays and Thursdays beginning Monday June 5 and continuing until Thursday July 27) at the Jackson River Sports Complex. Suggested times are approximately 6:00-8:00 PM.

At this time, we do not plan to have the lights turned on.

Nets are currently set up and the fields will be remarked periodically throughout the summer. There are nets for two smaller fields (40 yds x 65 yds).

The play will be pick up games organized by those in attendance. There will be no charge to participate.

The program is intended for players who are high school age (14) and older (50+).
