We would like to wish a warm welcome and a Happy Birthday to Liz Hansen, our newest employee! Liz joins the team as our Manager of Community Engagement and Volunteer Recruitment. Liz comes to us from CASA of West Kentucky. She has been working with CASA for over 10 years and brings an array of experience including recruitment, training, retention services, community engagement, and direct advocacy supervision. Liz's husband recently retired and they decided to relocate to Northern Kentucky to be closer to their children and grandchildren. We are very excited for this next chapter in our program and look forward to growing the program to serve more children across our 9 county region.

It's Pride Month! One of our CASA Guiding Principles is that we recognize the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion and *all* children should be safe, have a permanent home, and an opportunity to thrive. LGBTQ+ youth are overrepresented in the child welfare system and they need CASA volunteers who will provide empathetic, gender-affirming advocacy. Consider becoming a CASA volunteer today and help children thrive. https://casanorthernbluegrass.org/how-to-help/volunteer.html

We should be engaging youth early and throughout their time in foster care. Young people must have equitable opportunities to build supportive, caring relationships that nurture their development, well-being, and future goals.

Today, on Memorial Day, CASA of the Northern Bluegrass Region remembers and honors all the brave people who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Thank you.
