Our Babies to Work Program at Randolph County Health Department welcomes our 4th mom and new baby! Pauletta is now working with WIC and just returned after maternity leave. When asking Pauletta about the benefits of the program she said it was much easier coming back to work knowing that she could continue to bond with her son, Jaylon, and continue to work at the same time. The Babies to Work program supports a positive work/life balance and shows that the department practices what we encourage in our communities; supporting parent and infant bonding, parental well-being, healthy infant development, and breastfeeding.

A nursing mother in an Oklahoma Walmart was shamed by the store's manager because she was feeding her child in their store. He asked her to cover up and leave. Embarrassed and angry, she told her friends, and they told theirs. Soon enough over 30 nursing moms showed up to that very Walmart to exercise their legal right to feed their child in a public place. They called it a "nurse-in", and passed out pamphlets educating shoppers and employees about their right to feed a hungry infant. Kudos to these moms for standing up for their rights!

Here it is... the answer to one of the most asked breastfeeding questions...breast size does not matter in ones ability to make breastmilk. Breastmilk production is a physiological process that takes place during the shifting of hormones once a woman expelled her placenta. Once our newborn baby or a pump begin emptying our breasts they instinctively fill.. supply = demand.. milk is stored within glandular tissue within the breasts.. how much glandular tissue you have determines your milk storage capacity. Every woman’s is different.. smaller breasts may have less, but will continue to release milk. We do occasionally see instances of insufficient glandular tissue and those women struggle with making enough volume to sustain their baby. However they will still make some milk that can be fed to baby. Any volume you produce is a gift to your baby..Remember that❤️
