The Crestwood Fire Department had some visitors today! Thank you to the Crestwood Recreation and Wellness Center Summer Campers for stopping by to talk with our firefighters and learn a little bit about what it takes to serve the community.
Recently, we were gifted this fire helmet by the family of James E. Lynch Jr. who was one of the first firefighters to serve the village of Crestwood. James was a dedicated and accomplished founding member from 1962 through 1969, who took pride in his work and was instrumental during the early years of the department.
Thank you Lynch Family for sharing this piece of Crestwood history with us.

On 2/5/2024 at 09:29, the Crestwood Fire Department was dispatched for a person unconscious and not breathing at the Fed Ex store in town. It was the second open call for the CFD fire companies at that time. Duty Chief 2301, and ALS Ambulance 2302 responded from quarters while ALS Engine 2303 responded from another active EMS call.
Companies found a male patient who had suffered a witnessed sudden cardiac arrest event. The crews immediately initiated high quality continuous CPR, drug therapy, electrical therapy, and performed advanced airway techniques. The actions of our Firefighter Paramedics resulted in a successful return of spontaneous circulation for their patient.
This past Monday, the same crew got to meet the patient in a much better circumstance as he has successfully recovered. Great job by the CFD crew! It’s always nice to see a good outcome for our patients.
Happy Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, which recognizes the hard work and dedication of our country's 911 professionals.
The Crestwood Fire Department would especially like to thank our dispatchers at Southwest Central Dispatch, Orland Central Dispatch and Calcomm Dispatch. We appreciate all you do!
Today the Crestwood Fire Department placed the new Engine Co 2313 in service at 0800. It caught its first run at 0841. The first of many over the coming years. This is the first of two new twin pumpers from Seagrave Fire Apparatus in Clintonville, WI. The initial work on the project began two years and four months ago. I want to thank all the people who helped along the way and thanks to all the members of the Crestwood Fire Department who worked so hard to get this done. This rig is outfitted with a bell that was originally mounted on the department's first new pumper, a 1966 Seagrave. The bell is a testament to all the members of the department, past, present and many years in the future. If you live in Crestwood, you'll be seeing this rig pounding the street for the next couple decades!
The Crestwood Fire Department is pleased to announce that we have completed the final inspection of our two new custom pumpers. This week Chief Newton and Chief Engineer Hardwick traveled to Clintonville, WI to the Seagrave Fire Apparatus plant. These rigs have a special significance to the department. The first two fire engines the department purchased (in 1966 and 1970) were Seagraves. The bells that are mounted on these rigs are from those two original fire engines. It stands as a testament of the nearly 500 people that have worked on the department since it began in 1960. Additionally, one of the new pumpers (Engine 2303) is named for our Chief Engineer, George Hardwick. George is the longest serving member of the department, who began in 1974. George was a professional driver and taught so many people how to drive and operate fire rigs over his time, we thought it most fitting. Although George hasn’t donned gear and responded to a fire in many years, he is integral as the coordinator of maintaining our fleet and training new drivers to this day. These pumpers will proudly serve the citizens of Crestwood for the next 20+ years. We anticipate having them outfitted and on the street in the coming weeks.
