Compressions only CPR saves lives!
The lyrics might be heartbreaking, but the beat could be heart-saving: Taylor Swift 's “You’re Losing Me” (From the Vault) has the right tempo for performing Hands-Only CPR.
Remember, if you see a teen or adult collapse call 911, then push hard & fast in the center of the chest.

Tonight for drill, members trained on Pump Operations, Drafting, and Tanker Shuttles. The Cross Lanes area has a large portion of “non fire hydrant areas” therefore when there is a large fire in those areas we must rely on tanker shuttles and drafting operations. Tonight, we were able to flow nearly 1,000 gallons per minute. We always strive to be the best we can for our community and provide a top tier service.

(11.8.23) This morning @ approximately 4:17am, units were dispatched to a reported structure fire at the Cross Lanes Unity Apartments. Intial reports were flames from one apartment and multiple elderly subjects attempting to evacuate. Station 23 immediately requested a second alarm knowing additional manpower was gonna be needed. Nitro TK-861 and Tyler Mtn E-232 arrived to find a 3 story apartment building with a working fire on the first floor. Crews made entry, assisted other subjects out of the building and extinguished the fire. Salvage and overhaul was performed immediately to prevent damage to other units. This fire activated the buildings sprinkler system and contained the fire to one unit. The Department would like to give a big “thank you” to all mutual aid companies that responded. Nitro FD, Institute FD, West Side of St.Albans FD, and the Poca FD.

WHAT'S THAT SMELL? 🔥👃♨️
It's that time of year again! Chilly temperatures this week may cause you to turn your heat on for the first time in your home since last winter. Within a few minutes of doing this, you may notice a burning smell throughout your home that leads to all sorts of scary thoughts.
DON'T PANIC! That fire-like smell is due to the heater burning off the dust that has accumulated since you last used it. If the smell of burning dissipates and you see no other signs of fire, you do not need to call 911.
If you see smoke and/or flames along with the burning smell, that is when you should immediately turn off the system, evacuate yourself and your loved ones from your home, and call 911.
Before turning on the heater for the first time, you can also consider having the unit serviced by a licensed heating/cooling contractor or service provider to ensure everything is running smoothly.
Happy Halloween Cross Lanes! Make sure to stop by the fire station to get some candy and even check out the fire trucks!
