We were busy with a wedding today and just realized it’s the 2 year anniversary of Little Cottage Florals🤍

I started this business having not a clue what I was doing. I didn’t know how to run a business, how to market myself, and I certainly didn’t know how to value my time and my product. I have learned SO much and am so thankful for this journey.

2 years in and we have flowered many weddings. It is so amazing to look back and know that people chose us to provide flowers for one of the biggest days of their lives. 🤍

Another great thing is that Sean didn’t get scared off when he first helped me with weddings. 😂 He actually enjoyed it and has helped me with every single wedding and I really could not have done it without him. 🫶🏻

So thank you to all of our brides past and future! Thank you to everyone that supports us and continues to cheer us on! And thank you, Jesus for always being our guiding light. 🤍

I know you mainly see the weddings and gardens we do,
but we still offer arrangement delivery for any occasion! ✨

Process:
-Collected soil and sent to VA Tech for analysis
-Took out old shrubs, rose bushes and other plants.
-Amended soil as soil analysis suggested
-Installed new plants
-Mulched
-Added a drip irrigation system

Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea)
A staple in any cottage garden with various hues of pinks, purple, white and more.
A biennial (life cycle of 2 years) that sets seed before dying so more can grow.
Native to the UK and other temperate parts of Europe and has become naturalized in the US.
In old legends it was said that fairies taught foxes to ring the bell-shaped flowers to warn others of hunters.
I quite like foxgloves and their whimsical character so I thought I would share a few tidbits about them🩷

So in love with this shade garden install we completed last week🩷

All plants are deer resistant and we used many native plants 🌱

I can’t wait to watch this garden grow and fill in!

What did Sean do during his first week of being self employed??

He tore out an old, uneven walkway and created a beautiful, modern one.

He leveled the ground, cleaned up and aligned the edging, put down the proper walkway base, leveled it again, put the new pavers down and filled in with river rock.🙌🏻

He also detailed 2 cars because he just can’t stay away from vehicles 😝

This week we have a big shade garden install, cleaning up some more garden edging, and cleaning out a small garden wildlife pond!

I’m still working on our new website and we got some amazing new business photos taken over the weekend!

It’s a very exciting day over here at LCF!

Today is Sean’s first day working full time with me!
This is a dream we have been working towards for a while and we are so excited to work alongside each other!
We have been designing, installing and maintaining gardens on the weekends for a while and now Sean will be heading up our gardening division full time! Of course, he will still be helping me on wedding days and he’s even started helping design arrangements!

We are so incredibly thankful for all of our clients because this would not be possible without you!

There is a brand new website in the works along with a cute name for the gardening side, so keep any eye out for that! ✨
