Got some amazing Broccoli micro-greens from Microshire Greens, stuffed it under the skin of a chicken along with a bit of seasoning, then cooked over my pit with hickory. Absolutely amazing flavor!!! The Homestead Bears

Recently, we had a young man (14) come in for lunch. He comes in quite a bit, but normally with his mom. This day he was by himself (he walked). He came during the “lull” between lunch and dinner rushes. He ordered his meal and ate while watching sports on TV and chatted with us a bit.

At this point, we sent the server on break and it was just him and us in the dining room. The cook needed something from our car and we ran out to grab it. As we ran out the door, we looked at the young man and jokingly said “you’re in charge, be back in a second.” It was only said to let him know we’d be right back.

We come back in, not even 2 minutes later and there was a woman filling up her soda cup at the fountain machine. We were confused, did she go behind the counter and grab a cup?

No. We found out the young man took our words quite literally, stopped eating his meal and took the woman’s order on our POS system. We were shocked, he smiled and said…

“You told me I was in-charge and I didn’t want you to lose any money, so I got up and figured out your system - it’s basically a really big ipad. I’m not 18, so I don’t think I’m allowed at the bar register, so I just took the order from the to-go window. I counted the change back three times, I hope your drawer is correct.”

Who the hell does that?!? This kid is awesome. We gave him a gift card for his next purchase as a thank you.

His mama raised him right….
