A performance opportunity for orchestral musicians! We recieved the following email from South Valley Civic Theater:
.. we are currently working on a Sondheim show called Follies. We are looking for many musicians to round out
our orchestra and I was wondering if you could help us with some referrals, maybe students or other musicians you know.
This is a paid gig (25-50 dollars a show) The show run is 10 performances. There will be 3 initial rehearsals and then a requirement for 4 nights of Hell Week rehearsals.
The show dates are as follows:
Fridays 8:00 pm Sept 8, 15, 29 and Oct 6
Saturdays 8:00 pm Sept 9, 16,30 and Oct 7
Sundays 2:30 pm Sept 17, and Oct. 1
We are hoping for musicians that can make all the dates, but we do have a need from some substitutes as well.
We are looking for some horns, winds, strings and percussion, but we have wide reaching needs so anyone who is interested should contact us.
We have a great musical director- Alan Chipman. He has conducted for us many times.
If you or anyone else has any questions, leads..etc, I can be reached at 408 427 5088.
We are located in Morgan Hill, 15 minutes South of San Jose. This might be a great opportunity for a student to add to his/her paid resume.
Any help, leads, advice you could give us, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Classes start next Monday - there's still time to join our performing groups, like the De Anza Chamber Orchestra, Concert Band, Jazz Ensembles, De Anza Chorale, or Vintage Singers! Classical guitar is one of the most compelling instruments to learn and listen to, and De Anza has several levels of classical guitar. This quarter, both Guitar I and II are offered. Guitar I is suitable for the absolute beginner, but guitarists who play other styles also enjoy learning to read music and improve their technique. Check it out!
You know you want to spend 30 minutes reapplying to the college and then another 30 minutes applying for the quarter JUST so you can enroll in VINTAGE SINGERS (music 21) and CHORALE (music 20). You also want to tell a friend how awesome we are - so they can do it too! :-)
