Yes, it’s true. Amanda was in the inaugural class of Curl Certification in June 2024. She had already been amping up her curl education the past year and has been seeing a LOT more people for curly cuts.

Spending two whole days on ALL things curl…well. That just took things up a few more notches!

Curly and coily hair is here to stay, and we’re here to be part of your journey to LOVING your curls and coils.

She's 🔥🔥🔥 just like the temperature outside!! If you're considering vivid color this summer, consider these key things as well:

🔥 The colder the water/less water you rinse or dip your hair in, the better- water of any temperature opens your hair cuticle and allows that bright color to slowly leak back out of your hair, so the less you even get it wet, the better!

🔥 A hat can be your BFF!! By tying up your hair and keeping it out of the chlorine or salt water, as well as the sunlight, you're going to prolong the brightness, and who doesn't want that?!

🔥 Consider a colored shampoo or conditioner (we can customize a conditioner for you) to refresh the color if you do plan to be in the sun, water, or shampooing a lot this summer. It can at least deposit some of that pigment back, without you even having to come in for a service!!

The past 5 days has been ROUGH with varying degrees of heat, stress, chaos, brokenness, and calamity. As far as disasters go, it's always amazing to witness our community come together to take care of one another and lend a hand where and when they can.

Just remember through it all- all you can do is the best you can. Period. Your best may be literally just managing to drink enough water to survive the day. Or eating ice cream and popsicles because the freezer is unthawing and it's the only cold thing you've got left. Kids having way more screen time than normal, or relying on UberEats and DoorDash just so you don't have to dirty anything or use ANY kind of heat source to cook... y'all... YOU'RE DOING YOUR BEST.

That's literally all any of us can do right now.

I'm one of the "dynamic duo" that makes up our salon studio. I'm a 40 year old boy mom of older teen/practically adult boys, a National Educator with Matrix (the color line we use) and I'm working on my dream life of moving to Hawaii Island (don't worry, it's not anytime soon so I'll be here for your hair needs!) I'm an avid thriller/crime novel reader and I am so obsessed with binge watching anything but Sci-Fi it's not even funny. 🙃

I've been doing hair for more than half my life and I have to say- the last 5-ish years have been the best part so far in my career! I've really honed in my specialties- hair color solutions & blonding and curly haircuts & color- and I get to work with my DREAM clients day in and day out! If you would have asked me a few years ago what my life would look like, this wasn't it, and I'm SO here for it!!

Trend Alert 🚨 : Ribbon Lights.

20293949596959291 million foils of blended, tiny highlights are making their way out this season. Instead we’re seeing “ribbon lights” which is a bolder piece of highlighting that is more obvious than super blended but not as stark as “chunky” highlights.

Why we ❤️ ribbon lights: bolder pieces of color or brightness that run vertically thru the hair gives the illusion of length- something most of us want!!

Shae’s reminiscing about her most recent trip to visit family…

While she does love being in Houston- hello warmer than Wyoming/South Dakota weather (where she’s from!)- she also has a GIANT ❤️ for her nieces.

The oldest, at 4 years old is a sweeter, mini me version of Shae. The younger niece, well, to put it mildly, is the BEST hot mess everrrrrrrrrr.

Anytime you’d like to compare “Auntie” notes and trade stories about kids you didn’t actually birth- Shae’s into it!

Plus, the pics are epic, and she’s ALWAYS down for seeing yours of your loved ones too!

TREND ALERT: Golden Blondes. 💛

If you’re ready to change things up, it’s time to roll with the trends and try a warmer blonde this spring!

Blondes are finally trending away from the pale white/ash tones and heading into a much warmer place, which we are SO pumped for!

Golden and slightly warmer tones are soft, pretty, and can actually appear lighter and brighter than the ash blondes we’ve been seeing.

What exactly does “low maintenance” haircolor mean?

🤜 It means you could have 3-6 months before you feel like you need to come back to refresh your color.

🤜 It means we may need to see you every 6-8 weeks for a toner or glaze refresh (approx 30-45 minutes), but that’s IT!

🤜 It means that depending on your styling routine and how fast your hair grows and how heavy it gets, you may only need a haircut once every 4-6 months.

🤜 It means we may need a 4+ hour window to do your FULL MAKEOVER once every 9-12 months, with minimal time spent in the salon for any maintenance.

Now, does that mean we don’t want to see you in the salon allllllll the time? Of course not!! You’re ALWAYS welcome!! BUT!! We want to make sure you know that no matter what kind of color or style you’re wanting, we prioritize finding a maintenance schedule that works with your life and give you real, honest feedback about what that means.

1.) After your consultation and curl assessment, we first cut your hair dry, working off your individual curl pattern to make the shape and volume that you desire. No shrinkage surprises here!

2.) You receive a relaxing shampoo and deep conditioning treatment specifically for what

3.) Careful styling to bring out the very best in your curls- volume? Ringlets? Definition? Plus, we walk you thru what products we’re using and HOW to use them at home. We also discuss your current products and if you need to change up how you’re using them for better results. (Styled entirely with A Curl Can Dream line)

4.) Diffuse. Lots of diffusing to net you the shape and style you want.
