Huge congrats to our captain Luca Lafontaine on being named a captain of Shrike!! Luca has been a key to our success over the last couple years and we can't wait to see what he brings to Shrike this summer!

Introducing the latest lefty leader to lace up with Shrike … Luca Lafontaine!

Shrike is proud to bring on Luca as a captain whose wisdom comes from an already extensive resume of leadership including coaching junior teams, captaining mixed touring teams, and captaining university teams. After joining Shrike in 2019, it didn’t take Luca long to dive in and commit to helping in any way he could.

Here’s what’s on Luca’s mind heading into the summer:

What was your favourite memory from last year’s edition of Shrike?
"1. I got so excited at the team name “Ender’s Outcasts” in New York that the captain gave me a sticker so I would shut up.
2. Not so much a memory, but even with all the testosterone flying around all the time, win or lose Shrike is one of the most positive teams I’ve ever played on."

Why do you want to be part of Shrike leadership?
"I love seeing players develop over their careers and I want to help with that as best I can."

What’s your captaining style?
"Definitely more of a 1-on-1 type of person. I’m happiest off to the side working through a throw with someone until they master it."

Come and join some of the Gee Gee's at the First Annual Cowboy Cup, hosted by Ottawa's very own Ottawa Outlaws!

Better late than never, but here are the final results for the season.

After a very cold and wet weekend at Belleville Regionals, the Gee's were looking to the Friday Qualifier at Nationals to make CUUC Div 1.

However, this didn't seem to be in the cards. After a win against McMaster B, we came up in a tough game against Western. The game was close but ended with a universe point loss for the Gee's.

This put us out of contention for the Div 1 top 8 bracket for CUUC, however, after a very good looking undefeated Saturday in Div 2, things were looking good for a run to the ninals.

The Sunday morning of CUUC had the Gee's facing UNB. This game was as tight as could be until the half, then the Gee's forced a few breaks, and strolled on out to their first W of the day.

Our next game had us facing a very familiar opponent, McMaster A. The O-line was strong and held throughout the game, and due to a few breaks from the D-line and insane bids from the Gee's, we had our second W of the day, and we were onto the ninals!

The final game of our tourney was also a familiar opponent, Western. This game, however, did not end up the way we had hoped. The Western team seemed to have endless energy, and before we knew it, we had lost 3-15.

The Gee's performed amazingly, and there was an amazing improvement over the course of the tournament. Now we turn our heads to the 4v4 season to see if we can make some noise!

Final game was a tough universe point loss to Western.

9-7 loss to Waterloo A

8-4 win against McMaster A

Playing for 5th against Western next!

13-1 win against Toronto B

MVP: Fabien Lefebvre for an insane first University Ultimate game.

12-5 win against McMaster A

MVP: Khirode Robertson for insane defence and nearly getting a layout Callahan.

(Shout out to Frankie for actually getting a Callahan)

9-11 loss to Carleton A

MVP: Habib Atallah, great handling, cutting, layouts.... pretty much everything!
