Last Thursday evening, Traffic Es**rt & Enforcement and frontline officers were in the Orleans area as part of the late-night traffic enforcement initiative.

Three drivers were charged with stunt driving-excessive speed. Each of these drivers had their licenses suspended for 30 days and the vehicles were impounded for 14 days. They were issued Court Summons.
146 km/h in an 90 km/h zone – Highway 174 EB East of Trim Road
100 km/h in a 60 km/h zone – Innes Road/ Lamarche Avenue
143 km/h in an 80 km/h zone – Highway 174 WB / Tenth Line Road

In addition to the 3 Court Summons, an additional 18 provincial offence notices (PONs) were issued during Thursday’s enforcement for a total of 21 charges. Among the PONs issued, 10 were for speeding.

Jeudi soir dernier, des agents de la circulation et de première ligne étaient à l’œuvre dans les environs d'Orléans dans le cadre de l’initiative « Les résidents comptent » d’application des règlements de la circulation en fin de soirée.

Des sommations à comparaître furent délivrées à trois conducteurs pour manœuvres périlleuses avec excès de vitesse, soit:
• 146 km/h en zone de 90 – autoroute 174 direction Est, à l’Est du chemin Trim
• 100 km/h en zone de 60 – chemin Innes / avenue Lamarche
• 143 km/h en zone de 80 – autoroute 174 direction Ouest / chemin Tenth Line

En plus des sommations à comparaître, 18 avis d’infraction provinciale (AIP) furent délivrés lors de la campagne de jeudi, pour un total de 21 chefs d’accusation, dont dix pour excès de vitesse.

Homicide Investigation on Heron Road: victim identified and police seeking video

The Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit has identified the victim as 34-year-old Ahmed Salim-Al-Badri, of Ottawa.

Investigators are seeking surveillance video from residents and persons who may have been in the area at the time of the incident.

Representatives of the Ottawa Police Service were invited to Rome, where a return ceremony took place yesterday at the Canadian Embassy of the iconic “Roaring Lion” portrait of Sir Winston Churchill.

The legendary black-and-white photograph, captured by Armenian-Canadian photographer Yousuf Karsh in 1941, was stolen from Ottawa's Fairmont Château Laurier in 2021.

Thanks to outstanding international collaboration and cooperation, this piece of cultural heritage was found and is now being returned to Canada.

Once back in Ottawa, the portrait will be restored to its place of honour at the Fairmont Château Laurier, preserving a key piece of Canadian and world history.

Homicide Investigation: Heron Road

The Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit is investigating the shooting death of a man in the 1600 block of Heron Road last evening.

Patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting just after 7:30 pm Thursday night.

Upon arrival, officers found a man in his 30’s inside a vehicle with injuries. Officers administered CPR and the man was subsequently transported to the hospital by paramedics where he succumbed to his injuries.

A large scene was secured and multiple witnesses were interviewed.

The investigation continues and police are asking anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit at 613-236-1222 extension 5493.

Last week, the Springridge Neighbourhood Watch Program held their annual general meeting. With 420 dedicated members, they are the largest Neighbourhood Watch Program in Orleans.

Amazing news was shared, that crime has dropped 70-80% in July and August 2024! This significant drop highlights the effectiveness of our community’s efforts to keep Cardinal Creek safe.

They worked together to keep any eye on each other's properties and reported anything suspicious that seemed out of the ordinary. A huge thank you to everyone involved for your vigilance and dedication!

Homeowners can take preventative measures against crime by installing motion detection spotlights, outdoor cameras, as well as installing anti-theft devices in vehicles.

Arson Unit seeking witnesses to Hazeldean Road commercial fire

The Ottawa Police Service Arson Unit is investigating an arson that occurred in a commercial building in the 400 block of Hazeldean Road early this morning.

At approximately 3:45 am, officers attended a commercial fire in the 400 block of Hazeldean Road, this was a tiered response with Ottawa Fire Services.

The incident has displaced many businesses, and the damage caused by the fire is estimated in the millions of dollars.

Police are looking for anyone with dash camera or video surveillance footage of suspicious activity in the area of Castlefrank Road and Hazeldean Road between 1:30 am and 3:30am on September 17th.

Victim identified in Centretown homicide

The Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the death of a man that occurred in the area of Percy Street and Nepean Street last evening.

The victim is identified as Quentin Dorsainvil, 17-years-old, of Ottawa.

A second victim also suffered non-life-threatening gunshot injuries. They have since been treated and released from the hospital.

One person is in custody for firearm offences and the investigation is continuing into their potential involvement in the homicide. No charges have been laid at this time.

L’Unité des homicides du Service de police d’Ottawa poursuit son enquête sur la mort d’un homme, survenue hier soir près de la croisée des rues Percy et Nepean.

La victime a été identifiée: il s’agit de Quentin Dorsainvil, âgé de 17 ans et d’Ottawa.

Une deuxième victime fut touchée par b***e, mais ses blessures ne mettent pas sa vie en péril. Elle a depuis lors été soignée et reçu son congé de l’hôpital.

Une personne est actuellement détenue relativement à des infractions liées aux armes à feu, et les enquêteurs se penchent sur sa possible implication dans l’homicide. Jusqu’ici, aucune accusation n’a été portée.

Suspect to identify following an assault at Bluesfest

On July 9th at approximately 10:00 pm, while at a main stage Ottawa Bluesfest concert, an assault took place near the centre of the field facing the main stage. The altercation began after the suspect had bumped into the victim.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’11” (180 cm), large muscular build, and short “dirty blond” hair. At the time of the incident, he was seen wearing a red/purple shirt, light-coloured shorts and red shoes.

Le suspect a été décrit comme étant un homme de race blanche, mesurant environ 1,80 m (5 pi 11 po), de forte carrure musclée, aux courts cheveux châtains. Il portait alors un chandail rouge-violet, un pantalon court de couleur claire et des chaussures rouges.
