Pigments!!

We started out with crafting pigments and have now switched to professional pigments. What a difference!

Batch #1 of our lilac candles was made with crafting pigments that can be purchased in craft stores. They are still beautiful colours but took a lot of pigment and dried much lighter.

Batch #2 of our lilac candles was made with professional grade pigments. These pigments require much less product to achieve deep and bright colours.

Added more colour to this batch of lilac candles. Pretty chunks 🤩

I wanted to play around with the pigments yesterday. A week ago, we had some leftover vanilla wax that was coloured kinda grey. Poured it in a tray, cut it into chunks and put it in a ziplock for "later" . Yesterday was later! I decided to play with the blues and greens, choose a few and add them to the grey chunks. Just see what we come up with. We chose Teal, Ultramarine Green and Seafoam green.

Teal, came out a deep but bright blue. Ultramarine green basically looked the same lol! You have to know, to see the difference and even then it's barely noticeable. Seafoam green was very light but pretty! I can't wait to use that one again but increase the pigment 🤩

So we ended up with this mix of chunks for a random vanilla batch! So far, not my fave but I'm excited to see how they will look mixed with the white wax, and after we polish them. And it was fun to try out new pigments and also make some stock.

Tomorrow we break them out of their molds then wick them and polish them. That's when the real beauty comes out!
