Art on Main
Connecting with our community through art.
Art on Main is proud to host local artist, Joaquin Soto, a metal sculptor from Grand Prairie for his Solo Exhibition, “Someone / Somewhere.” The exhibition will feature works of art created from numerous recycled metal materials including the iconic Volkswagen Beetle.
“My style or artwork is called, synergetic metal art sculpture. This is an art form where life is given to an object, using recycled and everyday materials.
This exhibition is intended to help visualize mental health struggles, with the intention to build compassion and empathy for the people traveling down the road of recovery. Awareness and understanding starts in the mind, before it can be felt in the heart.”
-Joaquin Soto
Exhibition dates: Monday, October 7th to Saturday, October 26th
Join us for the Opening Reception - Saturday, October 12th from 6-9pm. Let us know you’re coming via this link https://www.eventbrite.com/e/joaquin-soto-solo-exhibition-opening-reception-tickets-1020577573997?utm_experiment=test_share_listing&aff=ebdsshios

Spotlight on three of the beautiful works in the Convergence collaborative exhibition:
Heather Levy and Renae Lesley
Bouquet of Best Girlfriends, acrylic, fabric, cord, grommets on canvas, 11x14 in.
Meditating on community, unity and connection Renae started this one with these beautiful women and their lovely dresses. This one was not covered and I was able to incorporate the flowers, and install the dresses.
Mary Morgan, Chloe Morgan, Roscoe Morgan, Mac Morgan, Brodie Morgan, Camille Morgan and August Haywood
Blast Off, acrylic on canvas, 50x45 in.
At the time that this painting was created children and ages were, Chloe Morgan 11 yrs. Roscoe Morgan 10 yrs., Mac 7 yrs., Brodie 6 yrs., Camille 5 yrs. and August 3 yrs.
This artwork was created with all my grandchildren when I was living in California July- November 2019. Because it was my desire to interact with the children with a collaborative artwork it was the perfect time to engage with each of them. At different times each child was able to create their own space on the canvas. One day I remember that I had three of them working together and then it was the other three at a different time but each had their creative time with me, Mimi.
The collective energy from the children gave this artwork all the inspiration for creating this artwork. They each chose a space to create their mark with their choice of color(s). I added to the fun and excitement by putting my touches on the artwork however, I did not alter any of their original marks.
Donna Carnahan and Rodrigo Aguilera
Gondola Ride Deconstructed, collage on framed canvas, 19x23 in.
Donna and Rodrigo got together to design this iconic scene of riding inside a gondola down the Grand Canal in romantic Venice, Italy. Beginning with a paper photograph, together they tore into pieces a duplicate and glued the pieces laying on top of the original to create a collage.
Stop by tomorrow (Thursday) from 10am to 5pm to see these and the entire collection of works in the exhibition. All available and original works of art. Can’t make it by the gallery? Stop by online at artonmaindallas.com
Spotlight on three of the incredible pieces in the Convergence collaborative exhibition: 1. Laura Moore, Pernie Fallon, and Guy R. Giersch
Cast Away, acrylic, watercolor and photography on paper, 30x23 in. $2,200
For me this piece highlights the loneliness and beauty of nature. The crossroads photo was shot at the same location where Tom Hanks filmed the movie “Cast Away”, which is where our title for the piece comes from. Cast objects are someone else’s treasures. Whether castaway by Nature or Humans, the things that are left behind create an emotional drama.
2. Bobby Miller and Adriane McMillon
Crash 2, acrylic on canvas, 36x33 in. $2,000
The Crash Series embodies the essence of unrestricted creativity. Free from boundaries, themes, or timelines, it allows artists to draw inspiration directly from the moment they receive their canvas. This series is a testament to pure, unfiltered expression.
3. Erica Sutherland and Kaydence Sutherland-Kowalski
Formation, mixed media on wood. $1,450
Formation reckons with the watershed moment in which complex processes during creation can go awry, resulting in unpredictable and imperfect structures. These imperfections at times may cause anguish and pain, but our journey in overcoming is one of beauty and celebration. They are the root of who we are, and ultimately the scars we carry during and after the healing process should be celebrated and worn with pride. Stop by today (Tuesday) from 10am to 5pm to see these and the entire collection of works in the exhibition. All available and original works of art. Can’t make it by the gallery?
