Many people misunderstand the issue of chiropractic and neck or cervical adjustments. Every now and then 20/20 does a hit piece on chiropractic and brings people out of the wood work who have had a neck injury from a chiropractor. That is so rare that my malpractice insurance is only about 2k annually. Think about that compared to what an MD, especially an OB-GYN pays. Those rates are based on the safety of the profession. So lets make sure we know the fact and get the facts right. Chiropractic is unbelievably safe. Compared to Dentistry, Optometry, MD, or any primary physician setting chiropractic is by a mile the safest. Not even close. Here is a great article you need to read and educate yourself and learn. Attenuation. What does that mean? It's what your body does to pain over time to fool you into thinking it went away. But it didn't. Your body just turned down, or turned off, the pain signal. Don't believe me? What happens when your home had a new clock on the mantle? Tick tick tick tock all day and night. After a week you didn't hear it anymore did you? But did it stop working? Nope. Your body just attenuated the sound. It became "background noise". That new apple wrist watch or new bracelet or fit bit you wear; you feel it on your skin for a week or two then you don't feel it anymore. Did it go away? Of course not. Your body simply got tired of the repeated signal and turned it off. Your body will do that to pain. Don't ignore pain. Come in and see us before it becomes a more serious problem.
