Friends, you are invited to the premiere of a short film made by Don Tortellini on Wednesday, May 17th. Starts at 6pm, open to the public, no tickets necessary.
On the morning of January 18th, 2005, Oscar Jesus Sanchez's car was rear-ended while he was speaking to his mother on the phone, during his short commute to work. An ex-employee of the Sanchez Family restaurant kidnapped him and demanded ransom money. Oscar ultimately lost his life. 18 years later we revisit to pay homage to a life gone too soon. Through the narration of his mother, she expresses her grief at the loss of her son but also her gratitude for the great success she has been given between her two restaurants. During the trial of her son’s murder, Laura Sanchez could not testify against her son’s killers due to a health ailment. Through this film, she has been given a voice to express herself to the community that supports her and the family that loves her. Culture, grief, family & food all exude what this film is about. Written, Directed & filmed by local multi-hyphenate documentarian, filmmaker & photographer Don Tortellini.
