Grateful is an understatement… I remember almost 3 years ago I created my Distrokid account and was asking people to pre save my first song. • Ocean- My first attempt at an electronic sound made with the help of . This song was from my perspective of how I see the world as an ocean and we are the tiny drops that make it up. I really wanted the message of the song to be one of love and unity 🌊

• Lonely- This song was made using a guitar loop sent me and features the homie . The premise of this song is growing up yearning the relationship of a father (or mother) and making the most of your life despite any trials life throws at you. This may be one of my most heartfelt songs that stems from real life experiences 💙

• Better Days- This song kept the inspirational theme going and features my good friend . The message of this song is using your past as fuel to build your future. Despite where we have been in life we have the choice to write our futures and this song is great for uplifting yourself when life seems like it won’t ever get better. ☀️

•How You Like It- This song is my first collab with my talented girlfriend and fuses hiphop, R&B, and pop into a fresh wavy sound. This is definitely an explicit song and should be saved for the bedroom 😈

• Never Coming Back- This song was a shift in my previous releases and is about leaving a relationship that has turned toxic. It’s about determining your worth and leaving behind a partner who backstabbed you and features 💔

• Just Hold On- This was another heartfelt song written for my girlfriend and is about leaning on one another in hard times. I wrote it as a message to say keep your head up and try to focus on the positives of life and where we want to go. 🫶🏼

• Body Language- My last release has been the fastest growing song I’ve ever dropped and carried me in to the top 32 of the RNR Cup hosted by . This song is bouncy and upbeat fusing hip hop, pop, and a Spanish vibe that is sure to have you bobbing your head 💃🏻

Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday yesterday! The love was definitely felt 💙

I woke up to breakfast made by my lovely girlfriend before we went and got a couples massage (my back really appreciated that 😅). After that I worked on a track I’m making with to feature on with me. I laid down some guitar and vocals, and taught her how to record herself as well… Then finally we had burgs and cheese fries followed by cake and a very heavy food/massage coma 😴

Today I was reflecting on my all time favorite music and my favorite band always comes back to It’s hard to choose a favorite album by them but “Wish You Were Here” is definitely on my top 3!

Today I’m kicking off the “2 Week Your Fanbase Challenge” created by to help grow my IG following! In this challenge I will be posting content every day for two weeks straight and letting you all in on my personal life and daily grind as a producer/artist.

Music has always been apart of my life from an early age… I started like a lot of kids did in elementary music class playing the recorder (sorry for putting you through that mom 😂).

In middle school I got accepted into a performing arts program and started learning brass instruments in concert band.

By high school I had started teaching myself piano and found that instrument to be easier to express myself on than brass instruments. It was also in high school that I joined the jazz band and fell in love with improvisation. Throughout high school I also studied the works of Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Bach and more. This love for classical music led me to start studying music theory and from there I really fell in love with music composition. I had dreams of being a film composer and was inspired heavily by the works of & .music.

After a couple semesters of studying music composition in college I decided that I no longer wanted to put myself into any box, and ventured off on my own path to discover that I could teach myself anything I wanted to learn… In April of 2020 I dived head first into music production and haven’t looked back since!

My first single of the year is uploaded to Distrokid and set to release on Jan. 31st! Anyone that’s heard it so far will tell you this is definitely something different for me and is not like anything I’ve ever made. Which is kinda scary to be honest but we grow outside of our comfort zone!

Most importantly, I REALLY enjoyed making this song all the way from the beat, to recording it, and collaborating on the mix with my guy Bellarousse.

Ocean is a song that will take you on a journey and completely immerse you in electronic sounds. The lyrics are from my heart and expresses how I believe everything is one.
“We’re like drops in the ocean locked symmetrically in motion and I know

My advice if you’re just beginning to release music…

Grind for a month or two and make as many songs as possible. Don’t release the songs right after you finish but instead stack up anywhere from 20-30 songs.

Once you have a pretty good catalog of songs upload them to your distributor (Distrokid, United Masters, Tunecore, CD Baby, etc.) to release every two weeks or at the least, once a month. This will make you look consistently busy and will take the edge off having to constantly create and keep up.

Now that the easy part is out of the way I suggest using the time in between your releases to create creative content for those songs. This could be anything from eye catching visualizers, lyric videos, you breaking down what the song is about, the process you had to create the song, etc.

I suggest dropping singles and wait to drop albums/EP’s until you have a decent amount of traffic. It’s hard enough getting people to engage with just a single, it’s even harder to get people to engage with a whole project. Keep the singles short and sweet (no more than 3 minutes long typically) that way your audience is more likely to re stream it back to back. If the song is catchy they will more than likely listen to it a couple of times. Remember a stream is counted after 30 seconds, so would you rather them listen to a 4 minute song once? Or a 2 minute song twice?

These are just suggestions that I’ve learned is effective for other artists and you should do what is do able for you. Maybe keeping up with 2 songs a month is unreasonable for you. Just start where you are, and most importantly be consistent with it 🙏🏼

Do’s and Don’ts of Releasing a Song

Do’s:

Upload at least 2 weeks ahead
Run a presave campaign
Push via submithub/ads
Create visuals/content
Know who your audience is
Already have your next release planned
Send to influencers on different platforms
Create and utilize a mass email/text messaging funnel

Don’ts:
Pay for fake streams
Tag 100 people in your posts asking for a share (this looks desperate)
Post about it only once on release day
Put it only on SoundCloud
Talk s**t about Spotify because you didn’t do anything from the do list

Most importantly enjoy the process! Promoting your music doesn’t have to be a chore it can be just as fun as making it with a perspective shift 🧠

I’m making this post to not only track my milestones, but also to lend motivation to anyone reading it to KEEP GOING. Consistent progress wins the race!

April 2020: I bought a MacBook and started producing beats and writing my own songs.

End of the summer 2020: I sold my first beats and started gaining an audience on Spotify/SoundCloud.

End of 2020: I shot my first music video.

Beginning of 2021: I started doing custom beats over Zoom call with artists all over the 🌎

Summer of 2021: I started offering mixing/mastering as a service after a good amount of time mixing my own music.

Fall of 2021: I reached 15k IG followers after being sponsored in a BeatStars giveaway competition. Made my first $100 monetizing from IG. And hit 200k all time Spotify streams.

Currently: Networking with new artists, engineers, and studio owners and getting increasingly busier with making custom beats and mixing for people.

By summer of 2022: I’m manifesting now I will see a substantial growth in income and be able to open my own studio space here in Dallas.

By the end of 2022: I’m manifesting my first down payment on a house with music money.

What a journey it has been, and it’s only the beginning 😭 It’s okay to celebrate the small wins 🙌🏼
