It’s heartbreaking to see so many beautiful iconic historic homes being torn down in Dallas. We can read about these homes and the people who lived in them but nothing brings history to life like walking through the homes where these notable figures once dwelled. I’m saddened that our future generations won’t get the opportunity to let their imaginations run wild as they catch a glimpse of what life was like for some in days long ago like I did when I was a little girl. I hope enough of these gorgeous homes can be preserved.

Along with our community, we are saddened to see that what started as a restoration of The Cox Mansion has now resulted in demolition. We don’t have answers to our questions of how and why this happened.

4101 Beverly Drive (at the corner of Preston Road) was built in 1912 by Hubbell & Greene architects. This Italian Renaissance mansion, originally known as The Rose Youree Lloyd Mansion, was a historical icon of Dallas architecture. Its presence will be greatly grieved.
