Had so much fun doing this shoot for CATletix Fitness!

Everyone knows that I’m a huge warmth lover, but for branding shoots I do try to keep things a little cleaner and minimal (with some warmth for flavor + personal style). Also I was able to experiment with lighting here! The majority of the session was done with studio lighting and the rest with natural light. Scroll to see the difference! ✨

✨LIGHTING✨

Hi! It’s me your photographer ✨ I’m here today not to talk about myself, but to talk about lighting/angles and how it can really change the way you look!

💡I’ve always complained to my husband about how I feel like in photos, I never look like myself. I know I have chubby cheeks but in photos it felt like my cheeks looked BLOWN up! And my face would always look weird. I have scars on my face that make me look like I’m always angry, or like my eyes are more hooded than what they really are. I suffer from body dysmorphia, and those seriously unflattering angles on me seemed to just worsen those feelings.

💡This is a photo he took of me on a day that we were playing with creative lighting. And for once, it’s a photo that I feel like looks like me. No editing on my face, no face tune or face app. It’s just me.

💡As your photographer team, we don’t just take your photos, we work to find the best lighting situations and angles to really bring out your best features. This can be accomplished by many different ways, using natural light, on or off camera flash, reflectors or more. You can guarantee that when you come to a shoot with me or the both of us, that I will have at least one of these things on hand. We will move around a lot during the shoot to find the best angles that highlight YOU!

💡Being a portrait photographer is not just about composing the shot, but also knowing how to work in unpredictable lighting situations, settings, and finding unique angles. Your photographer should be making you feel BEAUTIFUL! Not questioning your features!

Juan and I started Jencrvzphoto (formally studiocrvz) in 2020. Back then, it was more like a hobby and something that we could do together. Juan has a background in studio arts and taught me a lot about photography. We did a lot of small jobs for friends and family while taking small pay, and had so much fun.

It wasn’t until last year in February when I decided to really take it seriously and go all in. He invested in education and better gear for me. For that I’ll always be grateful.

This is one of the very first shoots I ever did when I first got my 50mm. It’s crazy to see how much I’ve changed and learned since then. Although I didn’t yet develop my editing style here, it’s still one of my favorite shoots 🙂
