When I arrived I wasn't sure if this two year old really liked Buc-ee's or if her parents just thought it would be a fun theme. But within about 15 seconds I knew it was because the birthday girl LOVES Buc-ee! She spent the entire party carrying Buc-ee around, pointing at the decorations, and saying "Buc-ee!" in her incredibly sweet voice. It was so beyond adorable!

The decorations were excellent and there were so many great all-things-Bucee's details, including themed drinks, plus lots of fun activities and these pics are just the tip of the iceberg! I have so many favorites and will definitely be sharing more, but here are a few to start with!

A little bit of sunshine to warm up this snowy day we're having in Dallas 🙂❄️☀️

If standing in a field at sunset just isn’t your thing, did you know that I offer something that’s pretty much the opposite? With a Day in the Life session, you can hang out at home where everyone is most comfortable and just do your regular thing - and have awesome family photos that will be completely different than everyone else’s!

Babies change so much in the first year and this time is fleeting. This sweet 5 month old is precious and her parents are obviously totally in love. ❤ Loved spending the day with them capturing their typical weekend routine!

These kids are so much fun and so incredibly sweet and just growing up so so fast! They spent most of the session playing and just being themselves because that's what their Mom really wanted to capture.

Adding a new baby to the family is soooo exciting. Truly the best part of a newborn session is seeing the reactions of the rest of the family. So much excitement and joy and love. Sometimes even the fur babies love the new addition. ❤ And of course, getting to see tiny babies dressed up in adorable outfits is pretty awesome too (especially when they're handmade)!

Celebrating birthdays is just the best. And there's nothing quite like the first birthday! Especially when you're surrounded by so many people that are crazy about you.

You can just feel the joy and love this family has for this precious little girl! So many sweet moments and endless laughter and hugs. ❤

This mom and daughter duo are celebrating big graduations - grad school and preschool! Such a perfect time for a photo shoot to document such important milestones. ❤️

Remembering less than 3 weeks ago when I dragged my kids out to take photos with the pretty leaves and it was in the low 60s and they said it was SO COLD 😆

This feels like yesterday and I don’t know how we’re just 3 days from Christmas. The seasons go by too fast!

Wrapping up the busy Fall season is always bittersweet - it’s nice to have more time but not only is the busyness quickly replaced by the crazy holiday season, I miss taking photos for all of my wonderful clients! Before we know it though, it’ll be Fall again. 🙂

It’s been a busy fall for me and also a fantastic one. So many amazing sessions and incredible families. I’ve been loving it and I’m sad that the season is coming to an end.

So when this session came up a little last-minute for this past weekend, I was super excited! This little guy was just one of the most laid-back, happiest little ones I’ve ever met. I don’t think it’s possible to look at his adorable smile and not smile back.

I may be reaching the end of the crazy Fall season, but I have plenty of photos to share, so be on the lookout!

This is such a fun age and omg what a cutie!!! 😍

Moms, it’s so important to be in the photos with your littles! They grow up way too fast.

If you worry about your kids doing ok at photo sessions, seriously consider doing your session at your own home! Kids really are most comfortable there and always love to show off their own space.

Within a minute of meeting me, this sweet girl grabbed me by the hand and ran all around the house to show me her room and toys. ❤️

Another great thing about in-home sessions: we don’t have to worry about the weather! So as we head in to winter weather, don’t rule out family photos; know that your house is always an awesome option.

Love seeing this sweet family every year and love how much fun they always have together! This year we had some extra fun in the form of some very friendly ducks and geese. 😆

Usually photographers post the "best" shots from sessions. The photos that are going to end up printed and framed and shown off. The photos where everyone is doing "what they're supposed to do." Those photos are awesome.

BUT...

I think it's important to remember that kids are kids! And sometimes it takes a lot of tricks or silliness or who-know-what to get them to smile. And sometimes they will do the opposite of what parents want them to do. And sometimes things don't go perfectly according to plan.

And that's ok! Really, it is. Take comfort in knowing that if your kids aren't being perfect, you're not alone. It doesn't phase me at all and I love trying to capture their personalities, no matter what.

And sometimes the outtakes are really funny. 😆 Scroll to see the photo that made me laugh out loud, AND captures my nephew's personality 100% 🤣💙

I cannot believe how grown up my sweet niece is getting! Sporting a missing tooth and everything. 😍 Isn’t she just adorable??

Also I just have to say how much I love this purple grass. 💜

I *think* they may have had fun at their session 😆 Climbing on rocks, jumping over streams, giving each other bunny ears…what else could you need?

It is SO important to me that kids have fun at their sessions. Not only do I want them to look forward to photos and have a good time, it also makes the smiles much more genuine!

When you plan to be a fireman when you grow up, it’s important to dress for the part as often as possible. 😍

In home sessions are always fun and the perfect chance to capture kids in their own environment where they’re most comfortable! He was so excited to show me his room and make me some tea 😊

When your mom tells you that you’re taking your regular annual family photos but really you’re getting surprised with a new puppy!! ❤️❤️❤️

SO many favorites from last night’s amazing sunset session! Beautiful weather, beautiful light, beautiful family ❤️

When I ask siblings to give each other a kiss, I rarely expect that to actually happen. You never know if their reaction is going to be cracking up, looking completely grossed out, or even pushing each other away; it's often just a fun or silly reaction, which I love because it's always genuine.

This moment between these brothers is just completely adorable! They're so incredibly sweet together. 💙 And so much fun to photograph!

Their mom texted me right after the session that they said "that was so fun", which is one of the best compliments I can get! ❤️

Is anyone else moving very slowly today with these dark, gloomy skies? I'm happy to have the rain, of course, but it's giving me the serious sleepies.
