Friday, come join us for worship as join together with some of the other youth groups in town for a time of worship and fellowship!
Good Friday is the day of Holy Week when Jesus suffered the death that we deserve. It was a dark day. Jesus went head-to-head with death. He was brutally abused, spit upon, and dehumanized. He did all that, though, for us. He did it so that one day we could experience new life forever with Him.
When Jesus’ death came, He looked up and said three words, “It is finished,” (John 19:30). The veil of the Temple was immediately torn in two, because death had been conquered forever, and the separation of God and man was no more. The death of Jesus is sad, but He did it because He was the only One who could defeat death. As we’ll see though, come Sunday, death couldn’t hold Him down.
Today, let’s give Jesus a heart of gratitude for going before us and doing what we couldn’t do by defeating the grave. Let’s take time to surrender our lives to Him and let Him rule over us.
Maundy Thursday marks Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples, where he initiated communion. This day reminds us of his sacrifice—his broken body and shed blood. Afterward, in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed, accepting His imminent death. He was then arrested, leading to his crucifixion the next day.
To keep Jesus in mind daily, you can:
Read the Bible regularly.
Pray and reflect on scripture daily
This Wednesday is going to be a special one! We are going to get our hearts and minds ready for Easter this Sunday by “Walking to the Cross.” It’s going to be an experience like no other.
