Renew at Lovers Lane

Renew will not meet this evening, Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

We invite you to give God thanks for all of God's goodness and invite you to share God's goodness with those around you.

ISAIAH 12:4-5 (NASB)

And on that day you will say, "Give thanks to the LORD, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; make them remember that His name is exalted." Praise the LORD in song, for He has done glorious things; let this be known throughout the earth.

Prayer:

Gracious and Loving God,

We thank you for every good gift you have given us. You have given the perfect gift in your child, Jesus Christ. Through which we are forgiven of our sins. You enable us to live a life of love and grace. So that through our words and actions, your greatness will be proclaimed.

You have given us the good gift of our friends, family, and all creation. As we celebrate Thanksgiving, we thank you for the laughter and companionship of our friends and family. We thank you for our pets and all created beings, wind, rain, mountains, and valleys. You created all things, and they are a gift to us. Even the very air we breathe is a gift from you. We say "Thank you" for every blessing you have given us this Thanksgiving!

We will have Renew Worship as usual in Shipp Chapel. However, the service will start a little later; it will begin after the blessing of the animals. We hope you join us in your car with your animal or in person without your animal for an uplifting creation service.

We will continue the sermon series "Counter-Culture: Living Life Distinctly." Some of us were raised in the United Methodist Church, and others were not. We have heard many sermons with nuanced methodist theology. But, the distinctive Methodist beliefs may need to be clarified. This series will clearly articulate the message of methodist theology. We will answer the question: what makes us distinct from other Christian traditions? Tonight we will discuss how Christ calls us to live in the world.
