As a volunteer coordinator for six years, Sandra plays a vital role in our community. When asked why someone should spend their time volunteering with hospice, she explained that it's "extremely rewarding to know one is helping patients and their families through such a difficult time." When asked to share a memorable experience, volunteer coordinator Julia W. described this year's food drive when one brave soul stood outside in the cold and pouring rain for four hours helping her collect donated items. Julia and her volunteers show up rain or shine for our community, and their service is a gift that we do not take lightly.

Today we're celebrating Lacey P, a volunteer coordinator of 2 years, who when asked why someone should spend their time volunteering with hospice said, "What is more rewarding than being able to make someone’s last days and memories on Earth? In my opinion nothing. Nothing compares to knowing someone passed from this earth with everything they needed and happy because of the services we provide." We couldn't agree more and thank Lacey for all she's done for the lives of others.

Grief is a normal and healthy response to loss. If you or a loved one is experiencing grief, we encourage you to practice self-care. This can look different for everyone but may include exercise, eating regular meals, or talking with friends or family.
We held a drive-thru CEU for Nurses Week. Central Market, Bernard's Gourmet Foods, and The Salsa Texas donated a very nice meal. Kindred Hospice, Belmont Village, Villages of Lake Highlands, Acapella in Home Care, and Sue Krider sponsored this CEU with Dessert, wine, cookies, and lots of other goodies. We had a great turnout with over 35 cars coming through.
