Hopefully the Gambian Scorpions have fully rested as it’s been a rough week for them. As a recap, The Gambia’s national football team had faced a perilous situation en route to the Africa Cup of Nations when their flight encountered a critical issue with the cabin’s oxygen supply. The incident unfolded as the squad and coaching staff were on a journey from Banjul, the capital of Ivory Coast for the prestigious tournament.

Shortly after takeoff, the team encountered a distressing scenario as several players lost consciousness on board due to the failure of the cabin’s oxygen supply system. With the well-being of the passengers at risk, the pilot made a crucial decision to return to Banjul Airport for an emergency landing. This decisive action occurred a mere nine minutes into the flight, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, the team also boycotted one of their trainings as they were not paid by their government.

After boycotting their final training at the Independence Stadium last week because they weren’t paid, a day after boycotting their training the Gambian Football Association confirmed that the bonuses of the Scorpion National Team will be paid would be paid on the same day.

Hopefully, them getting paid will be a special boost on how they play at as Gambia faces Senegal in their first match in the AFCON today January 15!

Why are Afrïcan governments like this? They want their national teams to play at major soccer events, yet they always push the limit by not paying their players until the very last minute when their players retaliate and you wonder why most African soccer players prefer to play for foreign teams.
