How many times have you gone to the dermatologist for your skin and been given an antibiotic/antifungal cream or pill; a steroid, or told to try birth control, and your skin still continues to bother you? ππ Let's work together to get to the root cause(s) and transform your skin! βΊοΈ The gut-skin axis is a crucial link that can greatly impact conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Your gut health plays a significant role in the health of your skin, yet this connection often goes unnoticed in conventional treatments. π€― The Gut-Skin Connection Inflammation π₯ Poor gut health can lead to systemic inflammation, which often shows up on your skin as acne, eczema, or psoriasis. Healing the gut can help reduce this inflammation and improve skin conditions from the inside out. Imbalanced Microbiome π¦ A disrupted gut microbiome can lead to an overgrowth of harmful bacteria, which can exacerbate skin issues. Balancing the gut microbiome supports healthier, clearer skin. Nutrient Absorption π If your gut isnβt absorbing nutrients properly, your skin wonβt get the nutrients it needs to stay healthy. Gut health ensures your skin is nourished from within. Ignoring the gut-skin connection means missing out on a powerful tool for improving skin conditions. Instead of just treating symptoms on the surface, addressing gut health can lead to deeper and lasting results. Your skin will thank you for it! π― Book a FREE discovery call at Gabriellegrandell.com and follow me for more gut health tips. π PMID: 35889927 PMID: 35371420 PMID: 31284694
Cucumbers are one of my favorite foods during the summer because they are super hydrating, consisting of 96% water! They also have some fiber, which is very important for our gut health! Coconut aminos is a salty, savory sauce made from the fermented sap of coconut palm and we know fermented foods help feed our gut microbiome! Let me know if you try this out. π₯π

These are 8 root causes of constipation that are not often considered in the traditional standard of care: 1. Fluids- make sure you're drinking enough; increase your fluids if you increase your fiber; be sure to add in minerals if you have a water filter 2. Fiber- the average American gets ~15g of fiber per day, but it should be more like 25-30g minimum. Mix up the plant based foods! 3. Your brain/stress- Stressing is one of the number one reasons people are (and stay) constipated. You need to give your nervous system a break if you want it to do things more efficiently. 4. Stomach acid- Low stomach acid can lead to constipation. If you're low in stomach acid, it's much harder to digest heavy protein/meat meals, and things move much slower. 5. Medications- It's a good idea to research the side effects of any medication you're on. Assess if the constipation worsened around the same time of starting it. This allows you to bring it to your provider that started you on it to discuss possible alternative options. 6. Thyroid- A low functioning thyroid can be a notorious contributor to SIBO and constipation. Most traditional practitioners don't run a full thyroid panel, which means you're missing a lot of the picture. Addressing the whole thyroid may greatly change your bowel habits. 7. GI infections- The main infections that cause constipation are methane-dominant SIBO, dysbiotic flora (imbalance of the good and bad gut bacteria), and candida overgrowth. It's not always as simple as taking a probiotic, eating more veggies, and giving it time. 8. Food sensitivities- Many food sensitivities present themselves as constipation. The most often offenders are corn, soy, shellfish, and eggs, but could be a completely different list depending on what you're experiencing. You can't ask your body to heal if you're not giving it the tools to do so! I'm here to assist with these things. Here's to happier, healthier days ahead. #thegutgoddess #functionalmedicinecerti

π₯¦ Beware of too much fiber, too fast!π₯¦ Did you know that rapidly increasing your fiber intake can actually worsen small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)?
