They say business owners should just stick to promoting/selling their products or services...This is not who I am and I will never be that...And for the record, there is nothing wrong with being just that.

Authenticity, at all times, is priceless in this community as well as on this platform and I have too much Love, Grace, Dignity, and Respect to not hold up a mirror to our world and most importantly myself.

5 PROGRESS NOTES:
#1. Our Trademark License Agreement is moving through the federal approval process. The timeline for final approval should be summer 2024 (June/July). Once approved, national opportunities and considerations will be coordinated swiftly.

#2. Another component being added to our bundle package is the setup and feasibility for you to administer cheesecake classes and sell VAL'S merch.

#3. Texas opportunities and locations are currently opened for discussion and exploration.

#4. Cost and Royalties have been added to slide 4.

#5. A territorial exclusivity (radius) will be heavily advised throughout the negotiation process.

Over the past 10 years, we've received numerous requests from others to open Val's Cheesecakes in other parts of Texas and the country.

The moments were never right, the operation and maintenance kinks were not fully worked out, and most importantly, I, Val, wanted a way for another group or human to have the flexibility to put their own flair and touches to a proven concept as well as to not be burdened by the past challenges encountered in building a business from ground zero.

With our recent grant help from , we were able to secure top legal Dallas counsel to develop a transparent, fair and fiscally responsible agreement allowing us to license our trademarks and trade secrets.

This agreement is different from a franchise agreement and will not have the typical restrictions.

We are undeniably grateful to our community, our relationships, and our team members for contributing to our longevity and for making our Val's Cheesecakes concept a reality with a future.

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT THANKSGIVING:
1. Both locations OPEN on November 21st (my birthday!) and November 22nd for pickups until 8pm.

2. Thanksgiving Day Tradition : 8am to 12pm (AKARD LOCATION ONLY - FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE).

3. All locations CLOSED on 11/24, 11/25, and 11/26 (the weekend after Thanksgiving).

4. Continue to order from the regular online menu until November 9th.

5. After November 9th, you will ONLY be able to order from the “A Val‘s Thanksgiving Menu“ which will replace the current menu at that time and includes:

Your vote and your support: We want to bring awareness with this recent article to how pivotal it is for our voices to be heard on this outdated parking ordinance which is making it hard for several businesses in this town to flourish. Link to article in our bio.

Val's Cheesecakes has lost considerable revenue potential for 6 years on alcohol sales which could be served with cheesecake at our establishment as well as be an equal partner allowed to sell alcohol during the St. Patrick's Block Party.

The City has been working on a new ordinance for months that could help us all but there are folks ready to shut it down. Why would you vote this down, right?

Elections are coming up and if you did not know, council members appoint many folks on different boards. Who are they appointing? Do they represent you? Are you heard?

A Message to You and Val: took this pic on July 15, 2015, soon after I opened the SHACK on Maple Avenue, and she shared it with me this week. As I look at this picture, the following message to my younger self and to anyone it might help right now comes to mind:

🌺 Start working on owning your commercial land for your business before getting into business; even if you don't use it for your business.

🌺 Fix the details perfectly and work the kinks out at one location before expanding

🌺 Do not rely only or largely on the revenue stream from the customer base near your location. Your business is a travel destination for the world and you have to act and talk like it is.

🌺 Find a minimum of one day to completely disconnect from your passion

🌺 Learn the art of setting boundaries

🌺 Strive for clarity and alignment in everything you do and in every relationship

🌺 Managing people will be your greatest reward and challenge

🌺 If you can find a strong partnership in running your business with another human being, please nurture it and reward it financially too

🌺 Your customers know how to discern authenticity immediately and authenticity will help you navigate challenging times

🌺 You can change your mind at any time but you have to deal with all the consequences of changing your mind
