Dallas Comedy House
Dallas Comedy House is closed. Thank you for 11.5 great years!
A letter from Amanda:
The writer in me has crafted dozens of drafts of this post. While I could write a book about the last 11.5 years, I’m going to keep this (relatively) short. I’ve made the decision to close the entity that is the Dallas Comedy House. I hope it’s more sweet than bitter for you, as it is for me. I have laughed more during this DCH journey than most people will laugh in ten lifetimes, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
⠀
This city and community have been so good to us and I’m forever thankful for the support they’ve continued to provide. Early on, I was inspired and motivated by other cities’ comedy scenes to bring more people together to create comedy and make more people aware of comedy. I’m proud of the work we’ve done to bring both of those dreams to fruition.
⠀
If you would have told me when I filed paperwork in 2008 to form an LLC for a comedy theater that my life would be changed forever by the experience, I would have laughed at you and kept googling “how to run a business.” I never dreamed this journey would teach me so much about comedy, about business, about others, and about myself.
⠀
Perhaps the reason this is (again, relatively) short is because there are too many people to list who have been part of DCH. To all the thousands of students, graduates, performers, interns, staff, and faculty: I love you all very much and think some of you are really funny. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your lives and for making mine better. You’re Simply The Best.
⠀
I’ll leave you with one of my favorite pics: Our first official home was on Commerce Street and it was the first home of our neon sign. I hope comedy continues to light up your world the way it has mine.
Oh gosh. We are so sad to hear that comedian Clint “Paco” Werth lost his battle to cancer. Paco was one of the first people to ever walk through the doors on Commerce Street. He was always quick to offer a helping hand, pitch bizarre show ideas, and offer legit culinary advice to elevate our menu full of snack foods. The world lost a really great comedian/human/friend. Our hearts go out to his fiancé, Stormie, and the rest of his friends, family, and extended comedy family. A GoFundMe has been set up by local comedians to help with memorial costs (link in comments). ❤️ Rest In Peace, Paco.

Join us tonight for a free online storytelling showcase at 7p CST! These students started their class before quarantine and finished it via the magic of the internet. They’re ready to virtually show off their new skills. Link in comments to register for the free show!
This little outdoor stage served us well over the past few weeks. Thanks to everyone who has supported our safe and socially-distanced patio comedy shows.
⠀
The safety of our staff and our guests has always been our priority. With the increased restrictions and rising daily case numbers, we’ve made the decision to end the patio comedy shows for the time being.
⠀
We love making you laugh and we’re excited to continue to bring laughter to your homes with more virtual shows and classes.
⠀
Our next round of comedy classes will be available for registration at 10a on Monday, July 6th.
⠀
Keep following us here for more updates on new virtual comedy shows.
⠀
Stay safe everyone.

“I’ve got your back.” It’s what our performers and students say to one another before a show. It means we support one another, are ready to listen, and eager to celebrate what magic we make up on the stage.
Today is the 51st anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. A catalyst for the fight for LGBTQ+ rights, today we celebrate progress made and recognize the work that remains. We’ve got your back.
Congrats to our Founder/CEO Amanda Austin for being accepted as a 2020 Tory Burch Fellow through the Tory Burch Foundation. 👏👏

We’ve been mandating masks before there was a mandate. 😷
There’s now a Dallas City Mandate that makes this much easier. If you haven’t been to DCH yet, please review our guidelines:
⠀
✅ Masks required at all times when you are not seated. If you are not wearing a mask before and upon entering the premises, you will not be permitted. Forgot your mask? 💰We’ll sell you one.
⠀
✅ Find a seat, keep your seat, don’t move your seat! You must stay seated at your table, unless you’re going inside to use the restroom. No combining of tables. No standing/loitering.
⠀
✅No parties of 10 or more.
⠀
✅ If are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms OR you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive, please stay home.
⠀
❤️🏡All are welcome at DCH (with a valid ID). Please follow our rules, or we will have to ask you to leave.

Dallas Comedy House: A Commitment to Showing Our Work — Dallas Comedy House Over the past several days, I've taken a lot of time to reflect and listen, and think about how I personally can take a more proactive approach to ending systemic racism and the white supremacy that is continuing to plague our nation.
