Dallas Attorneys Jamil Alibhai and Jordan Curry secured a trial victory for client Michaels Stores in the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas this week. The case resulted in a full defense verdict finding Michaels did not infringe the Plaintiff’s trademark related to paint-by-number kits. Munsch Hardt's business property tax specialists were able to reduce the valuation of a local surgeon’s business personal property tax valuation from $532,000 to $6,900. If you received a grossly overvalued business property tax valuation from the Harris County Appraisal District in comparison to previous years, you may be able to reduce the tax valuation, and, therefore the tax burden, by protesting or correcting these valuations with the taxing authority. The usual deadline for filing a protest is May 15 or 30 days after the notice of appraised value was delivered to the property owner, whichever is later.
