You may remember that throughout our Lenten journey on the art of forgiveness, we engaged in a collection effort to forgive medical debt in Dallas County. We were recently notified that because of our congratulation’s faithfulness and generosity, that the over $17,000 collected through PHPC impacted 2,843 people, forgiving $3,867,308.14 in medical debt—freeing families from the burden of medical debt!

We are so grateful to everyone who supported the campaign and our partners Undue Medical Debt for working to ensure Americans are not prevented from achieving financial stability because they were sick or injured.

He has been preparing us for this moment all summer and some of us are still not ready to say so long to our Pastoral Resident, Rev. Peter Manning. But the time has come and this Sunday will be his last at PHPC.

He will be preaching both services and we are celebrating him during Connection Hour. Join us for a reception in the atrium. See you Sunday!

While many of us are still sleeping the smell of breakfast cooking starts at 4 a.m. every Tuesday as our Men’s Breakfast crew is getting everything ready. This morning they met in their new home, The Youth House, for the first time. Welcome to South Campus. And they would want you to know that you are always welcome to come for breakfast, learning, and fellowship.

Sunday, July 28th we will have the 9 a.m. Contemporary service, then Putt-Putt for Impact (yes, Jubilee Hall has been transformed in to a 9 hole miniature golf course!), and then the 11 a.m Traditional.

A reminder both services are now in the Sanctuary.

See you there!!

We are overjoyed for our Community Impact Partner, The Stewpot, for their purchase of the Opportunity Center.

We have some good news to share! CitySquare’s Board of Directors unanimously voted to accept The Stewpot’s proposal to purchase its Opportunity Center and continue its Neighbor Resource Center and Food Pantry programs. Now that CitySquare has accepted our proposal, we will move into due diligence and seek all necessary approvals, including from the congregation of First Presbyterian Church of Dallas, the home of The Stewpot since 1975. Find out more at www.thestewpot.org/citysquare-transition.

There a lot of changes happening this Sunday (new locations for the 9 a.m. Service and the nursery) but so much will also be the same. You are welcome to come as you are, enjoy coffee and donuts during the service, and for our young families the nursery is full of books, toys, and rocking chairs!

We have come to the end of an era.

This Sunday, July 14, will be the last Contemporary Worship service in Founders Hall for the foreseeable future. As we make our move into the south part of our campus.

Founders Hall has been a sacred space for so many in the life of our community.

Please come worship with us as we honor and cherish all the memories made and look forward to all the new life that is yet to come. Our creative team has prepared a meaningful activity to bless what has been and to bless what is to come. You won’t want to miss this!!

Where is the Contemporary Service Going??Next Sunday, July 21, we will be gathering at 9 a.m. in the Sanctuary and celebrating the start of a new season!

This Sunday is one of four 5th Sundays in 2024. And on the 5th Sunday we take time between the 9 a.m. and the 11 a.m. for Service Between Services. We will be making snack backs for the Stewpot at 10 a.m. in Jubilee Hall.

But that’s not all, Jubilee Hall has been transformed into an art gallery and artists from the Stewpot Art program will be there to share about their lives and work.

Lastly if you have any paper bags at home please bring them on Sunday to JH. These bags will help hold all the snack bags we make so the Stewpot staff can take them back to give out.

This morning and last week we ordained and installed our newest Elders and Deacons.
Rev. Matthew Ruffner reflected after last week’s instillation.

Just after the above photo was taken this past Sunday, a new Elder said, "That was surprisingly emotional!" I replied, "It always is!" I am always surprised by the Spirit's presence when we ordain and install the newest Deacon and Elder class.

Perhaps it is because the Spiritual act of laying on of hands follows the very decent and in-order constitutional questions and catches me by surprise. I know that the past, present, and future seem to merge into one in that moment. When I reflect on the picture above, I see the thousands of people who have run the race of faith and passed down the baton to the next generation. I see how the Spirit of God works through every one of us. None of us is perfect, but we are called. It is a powerful witness and testament to our faith.

Five years ago Principal Joseph Medaris joined the staff at our parter school McShan Elementary. We are so very sad that he is moving on this summer but grateful for the time we had. Help us in thanking him for his unwavering commitment for our Vickery students!
