Here it is - our final recap for Confer Radio Talent Insititute:
🔹Don Bedell, director of business support, WPSU-FM/TV, shared the difference between public radio and non-commercial.
🔹Steve Scott, afternoon news anchor for WCBS News Radio 880, shared how to do great news/talk radio and how to put it together and deliver it.
🔹Kyle Leff, on-air personality and assistant program director for POP 93.3, walked our students through how to go from a college student to a radio pro.
🔹Sean O'Mealy, regional market manager, Seven Mountains Media, discussed how to build our students' marketing position in the new world.
🔹True to tradition, Kerby Confer read "Oh, The Places You'll Go" to our students and they were given their certificates!
Thank you so much for following along and we can't wait to do this all over again in 2025.
Our students kicked off Memorial Day Weekend with another jam-packed day at Confer Radio Talent Institute:
🔹They got up with the sun to be part of the live morning show broadcast with Shelly Woods and Harry Mann from Bigfoot Country Morning Show and Seven Mountains Media.
🔹The duo also did a session about show prep and what all is involved with getting a show together.
🔹Jerry Valeri, programming and talent development operations manager with Seven Mountains Media went over who a program director is and what they look for.
🔹After lunch, Jackie Spicher, on-air/program director, Seven Mountains Media discussed the role of a digital program director and the content radio stations need.
🔹Derrick "DC" Cole, CHR program director, iHeartMedia, shared the importance of music scheduling and did another aircheck master class.

🔹Jim Loftus, chief executive officer, Times-Shamrock, Inc., shared tips on how to make resumes and cover letters matter.
🔹Our students then got a creative writing and storytelling seminar from TJ Hower, creative director for Seven Mountains Media and 2023 Radio Mercury Awards winner!
🔹Jon Zellner, president of programming operations and digital music, iHeartMedia, NY, shared how to get a great job and did an aircheck masterclass.
🔹Laura LeBeau, program director, morning show host and director of news & public affairs programming at 99.7 WILB Radio shared why local community news matters in today's radio.

Our students were on the road in Philly yesterday, wanna know what they were up to?
🔹They took a tour of Beasley Media Group Studios with Joe Bell, vice president/market manager.
🔹John Kincaide and the Fanatic Morning Show Crew showed them how to develop a sports morning show.
🔹Still on the sports trend, Scott Masteller, program director, WPEN 97.5 FM discussed the programming needs for sports talk radio.
🔹For those interested in the marketing side of radio, Eric Simon and Todd DiFeo from the marketing/promotions team talked about how to market a sports station.
🔹After a quick bite and another bus ride, David Yadgaroff, senior vice president/market manager of Audacy, took our students of a tour of their studios.
🔹Jeff Sottolano, executive vice president, head of programming for Audacy NY, shared how to do sports radio the right way.
🔹Joe Giglio, sports talk host for 94 WIP, shared tips on how to get our students' sports broadcasting careers started!
🔹Finally, we had an Audacy panel do a session called The Commitment from Leadership.
What a great day and we can't wait to share more from the institute soon!

An action-packed tech day two for our Confer Radio Talent Institute students! Let's see who they spoke to:
🔹Bud Williamson, chief technical officer, Seven Mountains Media, taught the magic behind the board with engineering and IT.
🔹Leah Tyler, production director and Damian Rhodes, production director at iHeartMedia spoke about the basics of great voice work and production.
🔹Karen Richards, vice president of sales, Cumulus Media, taught more RMP Modules along with Joe Wowk, market manager of Seven Mountains Media.
🔹Mike Miller, vice president of programming, iHeartMedia not only went through how to use video and podcasting for radio, but did an aircheck masterclass!
🔹Finally, after a long day, our students and pros grabbed a bite at West End Ale Haus!

Yesterday, we kicked off our Confer Radio Talent Institute at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and we cannot wait to share our students' journeys to becoming radio pros!
🔹Kerby Confer, consultant and radio legend, and Kristin Cantrell, owner and CEO, Seven Mountains Media, shared tips on how to start thinking like a pro.
🔹Jeff Schmidt, senior vice president of professional development, RAB, went over the second RMP module.
🔹Bobbi Castellucci, market manager, Seven Mountains Media, went through some of the RMP modules with students.
🔹Jeff Hurley, executive vice president of programming, iHeartMedia Inc., shared what our students would need to know to be a program director.
🔹Our students got to chat with our pros and enjoy some🍕 slices.

🔹Our students were up bright and early with V-103 The People's Station's BIG TIGGER Morning Show with Jazzy McBee for a live show (behind the scenes photo of being the behind the scenes - very meta).
🔹Raleigh Long, VP/Market Manager of Cox Media Group Atlanta, got our students ready to start thinking like pros.
🔹Jerry McKenna, Brand Manager and Jenn Hobby, Morning Personality for Star 94 Atlanta shared the basics of doing a great music radio show!
🔹John Shomby, Founder/Owner of Country Radio's Coach showed everyone how ratings for programming and sales work.
🔹Rob Babin, EVP of Cox Media Group ended the day with going over another RAB Training Module and shared his vision and passion for our industry,
