The Family Stand
Daughters of Soul
2nd hour of the massive Truth In Soul interview, pt. 8.
We’re talking:
-Why do we need labels? Record labels is a whole ‘nother convo.
I’m talking about labels like “Neo-soul”.
-Releasing The Family Stand independently with Go! Entertainment in The NL.
-The Daughters of Soul. How fab it was working with these powerhouses. My niecy-poo Indira Khan, my main gazane Lalah Hathaway, and Lisa Simone. Paired with Nona Hendryx of LaBelle, Joyce Kennedy of Mother’s Finest, Caron Wheeler of Soul II Soul, and Gemini sister, Deniece Williams.
-Why Nona Hendryx is ev-ery-damn-thing
Dig in.
Happy Genocidal Colonizer’s Day, all who observe.
My Fancy Mac & Cheese ☺️
Segment 6, pt. 2
Segment 5, pt. 2
Segments 4, 5, and 6, during the 2nd hour of the massive Truth In Soul interview.
We’re talking Curtis Mayfield, my duet on his last album, and my fav song on the album, which incidentally, isn’t the one I’m on.
My honest reflections on “Mack Diva Saves The World”, working with amazing producers Mark Batson, Mixzo, V. Jeffrey Smith, compared to the unreleased “Sanctuary”, produced by my band-soulmates Peter Lord, Jeff, & Tom Hammer.
So, “Mack Diva”was virtually shelved. Meaning, it was released, with shade. As ATCQ said, and I am a witness, broadly speaking, other than the original Elektra Records dude, Bob Krasnow, and Denise Brown, Joy Bailey, that WB empowerment forward crew I had at first, David Massey, a handful of others in my experience, “Industry rule number four thousand and eighty, Record company people are shady”
Dig in.
Segment 3
OK, so the 2nd hour of this massive interview gets into some brass tacky tacks.
In these 3 segments, I speak on the making of, and the killing of my unreleased album “Sanctuary”.
We get into all the amazing talents involved with that album, and why I think it was shelved.
We also delve into Prince, and Princification of my music, and the music of others. (Don’t come for me, I fu***ng LOVE Prince)

… house republicans collectively shrug 😒
Second segment of The Family Stand, covering the early days and our 1st stupid name, which we had to change, because… STUPID.
I talk about having to train our audiences, touring with Ziggy Marley, The Red Hot Chill Peppers, and Henry Rollins. The importance and relevance of Moon In Scorpio to who we are.
This is, finally, the end of part 1 of this in-depth interview with Scott Goldfine on Truth In Rhythm. Part 2 coming up.
It’s such a great one-stop shopping interview, I’m giving it to you in bits and pieces, basically to have it archived as many places as possible.
