More custom rotary cutters in the works. First attempt at this design fell flat, but this one is the bomb. Out to heat treat before final sharpening and shipping to the customer to test.

An update to our prototype 15 Flute Rotary Cutter. Back from hardening and sharpened in-house, initial trials went very well. We experienced improved finish and significantly faster cut with the only change being the rotary cutter. Field trials starting soon.

Doing a little R&D on a potentially faster and more efficient rotary cutter for our carpet and tile beveling head. Our goal is to allow faster travel of goods across the beveling unit without loss of quality. Just a small batch to be heat treated and final grind before customer trials.

Big machines need big fixtures to machine some big parts. We're going to use nearly all of our 37"+ Y travel for one of the parts up next. The next 4 parts, ranging from 304L stainless to UHMW, will be machined on this fixture starting today.

Not a bad result from my initial run with . Having many years of Inventor experience, figuring things out went much easier than I expected. There is a 3rd op that will run next week, but I had fun working on this one.

It sure is nice to have a big table for those times a customer is in need of some machining on their 36.24" OD, 154 # sprocket in a rush and you just finished a job.

04/16/2022

When you've had machines down for 2 weeks and the they're the ones most needed, you have to do what it takes to catch up. Saturday time with the Beast making chips with a good supply of dip. Thank you for getting us going again.

Doing some light cutting on some 2" thick HR Plate for a fixture we're making.

What a way to start a Saturday workday.

02/17/2022

These were some fun parts finished and delivered this week. Mill/Turn parts are fascinating to watch.

Terminology is apparently open to interpretation. When your fabricator talks about a surface grinder, this might be what he's talking about.

Nice way to start the week. Just a tad of snow, but we're hard at it, making chips fly, and shipping parts. Have a great week.

When you have to drill through a 33" long x 2" OD shaft, +32D from both ends should do it.

It's not realistic to wake up to a snow like this on Christmas, or any other winter day, in our area, but I can dream... With a high of 67 today, time with family, presents for the kids, I honestly can't complain. I am blessed to have the opportunity to work for a great company with talented employees. Merry Christmas to you and yours. 🎄 🎁 🦃

This morning, when I turned the Christmas tree lights on, this ornament caught my eye. It made me think about the true joy in the guys faces when we told them they could leave at lunch yesterday. Small things make the big things worth it. Merry Christmas from everyone at B&J Machinery.

I think it was time to empty the waterjet tank. All that garnet has to go somewhere.

On this Thanksgiving morning, I'm reflecting on my time at B&J Machinery. While a lot has happened over the last 39 months with people retiring, or leaving for different opportunities, to new faces joining us for their new opportunities, one thing has remained the same. We work hard to provide quality parts, equipment, and top notch service to some of the best customers we could ask for. We couldn't do what we do without our truly unique, talented group of people turning raw steel into precision parts that bring our customer's equipment to life. I am humbled and thankful for the opportunity to lead a great company into the future. Happy Thanksgiving to our valued customers, vendors, and especially our employees.

We like doing higher quantity part runs, but we don't mind short run either. We can make your parts in Aluminum, Steel, Stainless, or just about anything else. Enjoy this coming weekend and let's get back at it Monday am with deliveries to the north and south.

I haven't posted in a while and when I was out in the shop today, I caught a glimpse of these parts waiting on the 2nd op. I liked they way the looked so I thought I would share. DV5100

An interesting part from one of our favorite customers. This sucker is made from Toolox44. The profile was turned on our NLX2500SY, and finished on our DV5100 using .0625, .125, and .1875 Carbide Ball Mills.

The BEAST MYNX 9500/50 has been busy today. Almost covered the logo on our killer vises. Can't wait to have a chance to machine our full bed plate. Blessed to be busy. Anyone want to explore a new work opportunity? We would like to talk to you.

Good food, good friends, family, nice day. Couldn't ask for a better day to celebrate the birth of the greatest nation on the planet. Happy 4th of July to all of our employees, customers, and vendors.

07/01/2021

If you are a manual machinist with experience, and you might be interested in finding your forever home, we want to talk to you. We've been around the block a few times since 1953 and we're looking for the right person to join our team to make some laps (and chips) with us. Send a DM if interested.

It's 6 in the evening. Shop left at 3:30. and I finished up a waterjet run waiting on shop guy to get back from a delivery. Night lights on and ready to go, but something is running. It is the BEAST picking a radius over a long part. Kinda cool that this marvel will read an M30, shut it self down AND throw the disconnect on the panel.

Nothing is free. Freedom has a price that comes with great loss. Today we remember the brave men and women that signed that check for freedom with the blood they selflessly shed to give us the privilege of living our lives how we want. Thank you. The sacrifice you gave will never be forgotten.

04/26/2021

1050 pounds of precision all wrapped up nicely for the trip from Placentia, CA to Dalton. We will bust this open in the next day or so when we have a spare minute. Can't wait to show off our new 20" & 26" Deluxe vises.

Work Hard to Play Hard!

Easy like Sunday Morning Double Team. Running some parts on the MillTap 700 while the wifey preps the boat for summer.

You do what you've got to do when the big mills are making chips. Our smallest mill (33 x 14.5) keying shafts that are over 10' long.

Have you heard of a Tube Laser? If not, go check out (they're awesome). This is not that. This may be the first documented Tube Waterjet. When the BEAST is busy as a bee and you need to split an aluminum tube, sometimes you have to think outside the box. Fun day.
