We started our first chapter book today! 🤖

Fri-YAY! A few from today!

Students use their math toolboxes to work through addition and subtraction problems using different strategies.

Today we read one of my favorites, The Legend of Rock, Paper, Scissors and then kids got to play some friendly games with their classmates. 🪨 📄 ✂️

Today we made our first set of math facts flash cards and challenged our partner with timers. This quarter we are expected to master 0-3 addition facts.

Wednesday in 2nd Grade!♥️📚🧮

Tuesday - What a day! We wrote about our story, The Rainbow Fish, talked about lessons learned, and made one of our own fish with a sparkly scale just like in the story. 🐠 We worked on our buddy reading 📚 routine that will become part of our daily literacy stations. In math, we are working on our math talk routines and fact fluency games. Lastly, for science, we sorted and classified mammals, birds, invertebrates and reptiles.
Busy, busy day!

Today we played “Gone Fishing”—an addition fact fluency game—with partners. It will be one of many that we play during math center time!

Just a few from the first day! We talked about our first day feelings, learned and wrote about Habit 1: Being Proactive, Read First Day Jitters and had Magical Jitter Juice, Practiced counting word syllables with big words from our story, played with some of the math manipulatives that we will later use as math tools, and played in the sunshine ☀️ for a bit! It was a great day in 2nd grade! 🥳

In this lesson, we made models of the earth’s surface and used it to discover the important principle about how rivers work. They used spray bottles on paper models of mountains to observe patterns of how water and rivers flow. ⛰️
