Feeling Great and Funny Stuff

She’s 25 today. I gained this bonus daughter almost 15 years ago and what a ride it has been. I was fortunate enough to be involved in her upbringing. I am fortunate enough to have a relationship with her mother…who has become one of my favorite people. It’s crazy how kids can make “broken” families become one. is one of those kids. To say we are blessed is an understatement. Watching her grow up to be an independent, successful young woman has been quite the highlight for me. I hope your birthday is as spectacular as you are my dear daughter who I love so very much. And thank you for allowing me to be your extra mom. 🎂🎈💜

Happy 28th to my second born…the one who challenged me the most…loves me the hardest…and makes me so proud to be a boy mom. He might not look like me at all…but oh boy did I spit him right out. 😂 Happy Birthday my sweet kid with a heart of gold. I miss and love you…and am so proud of you…more than you will ever know. 💜🎂

Posts like these are better than any review. This super cool chick posted her chat with her hubby on a local foodie page after having lunch at Jilly’s today. THIS is exactly why I do what I do. THIS is why I wake up wanting to run out the door to get to work. THIS is what I was dreaming about. And here it is.

Dinner did not disappoint and neither did the company 💜

This kid. She made our gift today…every little “cookie” and “chip” had a note…like: “you’re so pretty” “hey beautiful” “you’re so strong” “you can do it” “I love you” “you’re funny” and “I believe in you.” She even crinkled the paper so they would look like potato chips 😂. The little vase and bouquets of roses. The time it took her and the thought that went into it just makes her the best valentine in all the land. I’m so proud of who she is. My Maggle. ❤️🥹

Several people have asked me if this tree is real. I’m pretty sure it is not…but it sure looks real.

Here is what will be REAL about it. We are calling it “The Giving tree.” Every quarter, we take donations for local charities. We will take your suggestions for charities in need and pull from a hat so it is fair to all.

Giving back to our community will be something we are passionate about at Jilly’s!

January 23 sucks. Not hearing her very loud voice…not hearing her sing as if she just won a Grammy…not being a passenger in her car white, knuckled as she plucked her eyebrows while going 80…not hearing her laugh. Her amazing, distinctive, contagious laugh.

If you knew her…you will be able to hear all of those things as you look at these photos. And you will laugh.

She loved with everything in her soul. She gave herself to everyone she met. She never expected anything in return. She was kind. She was beautiful. She was hilarious. She was compassionate. She was everything good. She was everything. She was and will always be…my umbrella.

I LOVE THIS….. At 40, Franz Kafka (1883-1924), who never married and had no children, was walking through a park one day in Berlin when he met a girl who was crying because she had lost her favourite doll. She and Kafka searched for the doll unsuccessfully.

Kafka told her to meet him there the next day and they would come back to look for her.

The next day, when they had not yet found the doll, Kafka gave the girl a letter "written" by the doll saying "please don't cry. I took a trip to see the world. I will write to you about my adventures."

Thus began a story which continued until the end of Kafka's life.

During their meetings, Kafka read the letters of the doll carefully written with adventures and conversations that the girl found adorable.

Finally, Kafka brought back the doll (he bought one) that had returned to Berlin.

"It doesn't look like my doll at all," said the girl.

Kafka handed her another letter in which the doll wrote: "my travels have changed me." The little girl hugged the new doll and brought the doll with her to her happy home.

A year later Kafka died.

Many years later, the now-adult girl found a letter inside the doll. In the tiny letter signed by Kafka it was written:

"Everything you love will probably be lost, but in the end, love will return in another way."

Embrace change. It's inevitable for growth. Together we can shift pain into wonder and love, but it is up to us to consciously and intentionally create that connection. ❤️

6. Win the crown for being the Queen of laundry and a clean house 😂
7. Take our kids on a family vacation
8. Stand up for myself and those around me when need be
