Are you still looking for a way to buy your first home in Florida?
If you are, were you aware of a special program for eligible First Time Homebuyers and Veterans? It's called the Florida Hometown Hero Program (HTH), and it was recently enhanced to benefit more potential homebuyers.
The HTH Program is designed to help you save big on your home purchase, here's what this amazing program offers:
A 5% closing cost credit based on the loan amount, with a minimum of $10k and a maximum of $35k.
A competitive interest rate when compared to market rates, with no extra fees or charges.
A waiver of some closing costs, such as documentary stamps and intangible taxes, which means more money in your pocket.
To qualify for this amazing program, you need to meet these simple requirements:
Florida Resident at the time of closing
Have a minimum middle FICO credit score of 640
The property being purchased must be a primary residence
Borrow within the loan limit for your loan type ( up to $726,200 for conventional loans and up to $557,750 for FHA loans)
Be a first-time home buyer (haven’t owned a home in the last 3 years)
*If you owned (or currently own) a home but have not lived in that property as a primary residence for at least 3 years, you may still be able to qualify.
**If you are a Veteran, you do not need to be a first time homebuyer, you could have owned (or currently own) a property in the last 3 years. (in fact, you are able to own one property PLUS the property you will be purchasing through the HTH program)
Have an income at or below the limit for your county – ($154,800 for Dade county; $144k for Broward county, and
Work Full-Time for a Florida-based employer for at least 35 hours a week
If a W2 employee, this means an employer with a Brick and Mortar office in Florida
If a remote worker, you can work from home but your employer must have a Brick and Mortar office registered in the state of Florida
If Self Employed, your business needs to be registered with a Florida Address and there are some additional requires we can discuss further.

Melisa Di Lorenzo specializes in residential properties, she helps and educates first-time homebuyers, and also works with residential sales and investors. She is tech savvy, organized, efficient, always ahead of the game and on top of the market. She knows precisely how to use all the latest technologies and strategic marketing tools available to get the highest prices for sellers and the lowest prices for buyers, and makes sure to walk her clients through each step of the real estate process.
Her entire professional career of nearly two decades has shaped her into one of the most eminently qualified real estate agents in the state. By the time she joined The Jacobson Realty Team she was already experienced in every facet of real estate sales. Not only has she had her real estate license for over a decade – gaining invaluable real estate experience before the 2007 housing market crash, after which she shifted into other industries – but she has been a customer service agent, special events coordinator, property manager, loan officer, financial specialist, and tax accountant. Indeed, the jobs she has had throughout her career have been varied, and each one has given her skills, expertise and knowledge that she uses to make every one of her real estate transactions successful.
Melisa brings an entire team to each real estate transaction – and she is the team! For 5 years she worked in customer service and special events services with Carnival Cruise Lines. She was also a Property Manager Assistant with the Continental Group for a year, a Mortgage Loan Officer for 2 years, and a financial specialist with Wachovia Bank for 2½ years. She has also been a tax accountant, sold insurance, and even managed an automobile rental business.
In addition to holding a real estate license, which she earned in 2005, Melisa was previously a licensed mortgage broker, and she also passed licensing exams for selling life insurance and health insurance as well as Variable Annuities (Series 6 & Series 63). She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Florida International University and an Associates of Arts in Accounting from Miami-Dade College.
She also possesses a diverse cultural background. Born in Canada, Melisa speaks 3 languages – English, French, and Spanish – and has European and Hispanic roots: Her father is French and her mother was Colombian.
