RIP Dr. Wally Wilkerson

Other than my family, this man had more impact on my life than any other. I remember the first day we became friends in 2000. It was at a political convention, and even then his political enemies had their knives out for him. Yet, he was unflappable, remaining gracious and patient toward all.
He was so kind, and for various reasons I began to tear up. He responded by handing me his neatly pressed, pure white handkerchief from his back pocket. The immaculate handkerchief is a testament to his gracious and exquisite wife who was his perfect match. He could be a handful, and I remember the gleam that would appear in his eye when he was about to tease her. She fell for it every time. I can still hear her saying, “Now, Wally ……” as his gleam grew bigger.
She died just over two years ago unexpectedly, and it truly was a shocking rupture of the two who had been one for over 60 years. It was was like an earthquake, and all of us in the proximity felt the quaking. In fact, I still did.
Until today.
Early this morning, in peaceful sleep, he rejoined her. Both longtime members of their church, and his numerous times of talking about his savior Jesus to me give me complete confidence of where he is now. And that someday I will see him and Neddie again.
I am not the only one who was impacted by this man, my friend, who, other than my dad, taught me so much and believed in me even when I didn’t deserve it.
His impact shaped the history of Montgomery County, the state of Texas, and subsequently the United States.
I am not the only one mentored by Wally. His impact will continue through so many of us, as well as our children. I believe he heard today the words “well done, good and faithful servant” from the One who mentored him.
Continue in peace, beloved, wise, and trusted friend. Until we meet again.

WANTED: Murder Suspect Oscar Rosales

Constable Ted Heap is asking your help locating the man identified by Houston Police this afternoon as the suspect in Corporal Charles Galloway's shooting death.

Oscar Rosales is a 51-year-old Hispanic male who is believed to still be in the Houston area. He is known to change his appearance and should be considered armed and dangerous.

"This is a murderer. This is a ruthless, savage ex*****on." said Constable Heap. "We will not stop until this individual is apprehended, whether it's on the federal, state or local level. People are looking right now and will not cease looking until he is apprehended."

Galloway was shot to death after making a traffic stop in the 9100 block of Beechnut early Sunday morning. He was a 12-year veteran who served as a Field Training Officer in Precinct 5's Toll Road Division.

Police have recovered the vehicle that Rosales was driving at the time of Galloway's shooting. Two family members have already been arrested and charged with tampering with evidence.

There is a $60,000 reward being offered for information leading to Rosales' arrest. "Please, if you know something, come forward," said Constable Heap. "If you won't do it because it's what's right, do it for the money. But let's get this person off the street."
