I miss my sister so much. She moved to Virginia. Once a month we would drive to Cincinnati and stock up on polishes and nail art stuff (that I wasn't going to use).

She had a field day picking out stuff for me. She especially liked when I said "No budget".

Just something about her being in the next aisle, oohing and ahing as if she was in an expensive jewelry store.

Fun times!!!!!

I did these in 2014. I was/am so proud of these. So out of my comfort zone.

Happy Valentine's Day. It seems that I'm always offering my new clients a discount or some special offer, NOT TODAY!!!!! Current clients are receiving my FAVORITE add on treatment......paraffin.

Started w/ a 9am (UK) Zoom call w/ my business coach and others, well, make that 4am EST. 👀

How was your weekend? Mine was low key. We finally got to have cake to celebrate mom's 86th birthday.

Why did she pull out "emergency" candles? Where did they come from?

These candles didn't melt, they smelled like a bonfire, and seemed 6 inches long.

This client moved a few years ago and stopped wearing acrylic because her fingers would blister and itch for days after her appointment. I suspect from careless application of acid based primer and acrylic liquid getting on the skin around her nails.

She returns to Dayton, gets her nails done (not by me) and the blistering starts again. She finally finds me, I do a fill in, she has a reaction but it's much milder. I'm thinking that her days of wearing acrylic may be over. I know she loves her acrylic overlay on her nails and her "glitter" polish and wanted to figure out a way for her to continue wearing both.

I come up with a plan...I soak off and reapply the acrylic, just to make sure that there's no question what product is on her nails. Darn it!!!! She still has a slight reaction. I've got to come up with something. 💡

New plan:
💅Prep nails as usual
💅Protein based primer (avoiding skin)
💅Apply acrylic
💅Have client wash hands w/o scrub brush
💅Shape nails
💅Have client wash hands to remove acrylic dust
💅Apply gel polish
💅Have client wash hands to remove any gel residue that may have gotten on her skin
💅Apply hydrocortisone cream (client has been cleared to use) around and under nails
💅Apply Dadi' Oil cuticle oil

We've been doing this for 2 months and she has little to no reaction. 🤞

The idea that we are good at managing multiple crises at once… or that we could bring the same level of energy or intensity to each one… or even that we would have the our Give-A-Sh*tters turned to a consistent setting for everything happening around us is neither reasonable nor sustainable.

Energy is a finite resource.

BIG ENERGY is even more finite.

That means every fire can’t be an 11 and that prioritizing our responses is both necessary and healthy.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed today, maybe that’s because YOU ARE – not because you’re bad at life. Sometimes triage is the only legitimate approach.
