County Corp helps area residents improve their access to affordable housing. The Housing Source is a program of CountyCorp.
We would like to take a moment to say Happy Birthday to County Corp President, Steve Naas!
Steve is an integral part of our organization and our community. When he is not working, he enjoys relaxing with his family, watching the Columbus Crew, watching the Rockford Files, and volunteering. He regularly donates hours to maintain a local cemetery. That is, when he is not dreaming about a vacation to Tybee Island (HA!).
We love and appreciate you, Steve! We hope you enjoy a nice Dr. Pepper Zero Sugar and some Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream today!
Roberts Remodeling is well underway here at a home in the South Dayton View neighborhood.

Summer interior maintenance is just as important as the exterior. Make sure your home is ready for the summer with this simple interior checklist.
Today, County Corp President Steve Naas is in DC accepting an award from the HUD Secretary for Innovative Projects for County Corp’s Pathway to Homeownership Program. The Secretary’s Award for Public-Philanthropic Partnerships recognize excellence in partnerships that have both transformed the relationships between the sectors and led to measurable benefits in housing and community development, including increased economic development, health, safety, education, workforce development, disaster resilience, inclusivity and cultural opportunities, innovative regional approaches, and/or housing access for low- and moderate-income families.
Our program was one of 6 programs nationwide recognized by the Secretary this year.
More about why we received this award:
The Project: The Pathway to Homeownership Program
The Location: Dayton, Ohio
The Challenge: To increase affordable housing and stabilize neighborhoods that were impacted by the 19 tornadoes that hit the region in 2019.
The Partners: City of Dayton ; County Corp.; Harrison Township; City of Trotwood; Montgomery County; Ohio Department of Development; Ohio Department of Emergency Management; U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
The Story: On Memorial Day in 2019, the Dayton region was struck by 19 tornadoes. As a result of the disaster more than 1,500 apartment units were condemned and over half of the 2,100 surviving families seeking recovery assistance were renters. The Dayton Foundation worked alongside more than 30 public and private partners to develop The Pathway to Homeownership Program to address the natural disaster’s impact on affordable housing stock. The Pathway to Homeownership Program assists qualified, tornado-impacted renters to become first-time homeowners and invests in neighborhood stabilization through building new, owner-occupied housing. To date, 16 storm-resistant, energy-efficient homes have been completed, with 8 more homes in the works.
Summer is the perfect time do some exterior maintenance on your home. You have sunshine and nice weather! Make sure your home is in top shape and looking good this summer by utilizing this simple checklist.
Our friends at the Montgomery County Land Bank make such a huge impact on the community every day and this is just another example of that!

County Corp and the HomeOwnership Center of Greater Dayton are celebrating National Homeownership Month and it’s a time to recognize the value that owning a home brings to families, communities, and neighborhoods across America. Here are some ways you can celebrate:
1. Educate Yourself: If you’re a prospective homebuyer, take advantage of housing counseling services. These services can empower you with the knowledge and resources needed to become a successful homeowner. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is launching the “Let’s Make Home the Goal” campaign, which focuses on increasing awareness about pre-purchase housing counseling services through HUD-approved agencies
2. Spread Awareness: Share information about National Homeownership Month with your friends, family, and community. Encourage others to consider homeownership as a step toward achieving the “American Dream” and building generational wealth.
3. Support Housing Initiatives: Get involved in local housing initiatives or volunteer with organizations that promote affordable housing. You can participate in community events, workshops, or fundraisers that raise awareness about homeownership and housing equity.
4. Celebrate Your Own Home: If you’re a homeowner, take pride in your home! Consider hosting a small gathering or inviting friends and family over to celebrate. Share your experiences and encourage others to explore homeownership opportunities.
Remember, homeownership is not only a personal achievement but also a way to contribute to stronger, more inclusive communities.
Bill was very grateful to receive assistance from both County Corp and Rebuilding Together Dayton that made his home safe to remain in. We are happy to have assisted you, Bill! And thank you RTD for partnering on this project!
